Easter Delight from the footballing world.

Easter is buzzing and there's so much to enjoy about this day. For me, the big plan I had going into this day was the EPL fixtures scheduled for the day. The games I had on my watchlist were;

  • Liverpool vs Brighton

  • Manchester City vs Arsenal

Liverpool 2 - 1 Brighton

Liverpool snoozed and got smoked in the first minute of the game. It was an unbelievably depressing way to start a game that we obviously needed to win. The goal was scored by Welbeck and it came as an ultimate wake-up call for Liverpool. Conceding that early in a game can't exactly be a good thing. However, the fact that we conceded the goal at that time meant that Liverpool had enough time to turn things around.

As expected, Liverpool stepped into the game and created a lot of chances. Brighton was equally creating a lot of chances, but the scoreline remained the same until the 27th minute when Diaz got an equalizer for Liverpool. The build-up to that goal came from a corner kick that was awarded to Liverpool.

Salah got me rattled in the first half of the game with the chances he was bottling. The lad had a lot of passes laid on the plate for him but his decision-making was awful and painful to watch. He had several moments when he could have passed, but decided to balloon the ball out of the field of play. Salah also struggled to complete a dribble in that half of the game.

Second Half

Liverpool's performance in the second half of the game didn't look different from their performance in the first half. They were creating chances and breaking up Brighton's attack. All they needed was to bury their chances and they finally did that when Macca served a juicy assist to Salah. This time around, Salah used the chance well and scored a goal to put Liverpool ahead.

The performance in the game isn't bad, because this is our first game after the international break. However, Nunez must be gutted about his performance in the game. It's not necessarily because he had a bad game. The problem is that his attacking partners neglected him a lot in the game. Salah in particular had a lot of opportunities to serve crucial passes to Nunez. But he chose to go for a goal and messed up those opportunities.

Well, the 3 points are already in the bag and we are top of the league.

Man City 0 - 0 Arsenal

Each side had their moments in the first half. Manchester City looked more comfortable on the ball in that half of the game. However, by the end of the first half, none of the clubs managed to stress the opposition keeper in a very serious way. That's pretty much the case in the second half of the game. As very few people expected, the game ended with a point for each side.

As a neutral fan who had no horse in the game, a draw between the two sides is perfect for me in this title race. As it stands, Liverpool is already top of the table in this 3 horse race of a title challenge. It would be interesting to see how the rest of this season would unfold although I'm genuinely wishing everything goes in favor of Klopp and the boys.

Happy Easter Celebration To Y'all.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

In the Man city Vs Arsenal game, I hoped for a draw and I was so happy when I checked and saw the FT score.
I hope Liverpool maintains their lead, would be the ideal outcome for me in the end.

As a Liverpool fan, that draw in the game is a perfect scoreline for me. We can look forward to more games and see how the rest of the season will unfold

I didn't stay up to watch these games but I have a friend that was regaling me with how crucial it was for these games to determine who would be top of the table. I don't really follow the sport but he was indicating that a loss for Arsenal would take them out of the picture for the top spot. Is this true?

That's pretty much the same. Arsenal are doing well in the league right now and currently 2 points away from first position and 1 point above Man City who are in third position.

The problem for Arsenal is that they are in this title race against Liverpool and Manchester City who already have a track record of performing really well in an intense title race like this.

Since the game ended in a draw and there are a few more games remaining in the season, I would say that the league is still very open until the end of the season.
