Gameweek 2 (EPL/FPL): The intensity is insane.

This weekend is probably going better than I anticipated and I'm tempted to jump up in excitement despite knowing that this is just the second gameweek of the season. Is it too early to throw in some banter? Haha.

Lemme start with my FPL performance for the week...

Not bad!

My squad's performance in the first gameweek was a huge mess. I only managed to turn in 29 points, so it wasn't a surprise that my team went down to the bottom of HiveFPL and HiveNaijaFPL. Not really the bottom-bottom, but there is nothing to brag about my first week's performance.

This time around, despite having a couple of players that are yet to play, my overall performance seems to be fairly OKAY in comparison to the 30 points average performance of FPL managers for this game week. I hope it gets to 70 points after Arsenal's Monday night game.

Let's look at some notable highlights from GW2 of EPL

For obvious reasons, we are starting with Liverpool. The whole midweek has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for us because of the weird outcome of our hunt for players. The transfer window will soon get closed and we are still struggling to get a DM.

Thank goodness for the signing of Endo from Stuttgart. His signing became public knowledge 2 days before our game against Bournemouth and circumstances led to him getting featured in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Yeah. The ref did us dirty with that red card and I hope it gets overturned else we will be playing the next couple of games without MacAllister. This also means that we will be seeing more of Endo in the midfield. I remember watching Endo in the World Cup and I like his style. His Stuttgart teammates also have really good things to say about him.

I want him to do well in Liverpool. However, I don't think I will be comfortable having him as the only experienced DM in the squad. We still need a new leg in that midfield. Thuran would be a good option... That's if he won't follow in the footsteps of Caicedo. We've already faced a lot of rejection in this transfer window.

Liverpool started the first 15 minutes of the game with lots of mistakes and we paid a big price for that. The rest of the game was fairly balanced and we managed to get the maximum points despite playing with 10 men for the last 38 minutes of the game.

Other notable performance...

  • Brighton is cooking something sumptuous this season despite selling some of their key players. 6 points are already in the bag for them and they are sitting at the top of the league.
  • Man United got schooled by Tottenham Hotspur. Lol. Their whole midfield got ragged by Bissouma in a very embarrassing way.
  • Man City are still getting the points when it matters. Surely, a game against Newcastle of this era is no longer a walkover for any EPL team. 3 points in that game surely means a lot for Pep and his boys.
  • Chelsea is currently playing. Haha. The first half ended in a 1 - 1 draw. Chelsea could have easily ended that with a goal advantage, but Enzo missed the penalty he was gifted. Let's see how that ends.

EPL is already giving us everything we anticipated. The intensity is insane. Haha.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.

My squad looks good on paper although they didn't bring in good points in the first week of FPL. Haha.
