Lingard makes a hit-or-miss move to Forest | Is he in your FPL team?

I think we need to talk about Jessie Lingard. Apparently, he signed a one-year deal with Nottingham Forest, a side that has been away from the premier league since the 1998/1999 season.

Ooopppssses! How on Earth did the 'great' Jessie Lingard end up in Nottingham Forest?

I'm really surprised about every bit of this choice of his and I've been wanting to write about it since they sealed the deal.

Tell me I'm not the only one surprised about this move.

This is no disrespect to Nottingham Forest. They are a club I rate so much and they are a side I've been wanting to see in the Premier League for so long. The history they have in the 70s and 80s is that of intense rivalry with Liverpool.

Obviously, I didn't witness any of that. I only read about that but imagine how the build-up to a game between both sides will be. That level of intensity based on historical rivalry is something I want to see and Nottingham Forest is one of those clubs that can spark off wild emotions.

I will be lying if I ever say that I'm not looking forward to a Nottingham - vs - Liverpool cracker. So, yeah! They are a club I fancy and they have finally made a return to the big boys league after 23 years.

But how on Earth did Jessie Lingard become a Nottingham Forest player?

Lingard isn't someone I watch week-in week-out, but I genuinely believed he can do better than getting into a team that just got promoted into Premier League. If not Manchester United, Lingard should at the very least be starting games in a club like West Ham, Everton or Leicester.

To make things worse, this is a world cup year and he may be in danger of missing out on England's squad if Nottingham Forest fails to maintain a good position within the games that will be played before the World Cup.

To be honest with y'all, I tip this as a downgrade for Lingard. I hope he proves me wrong by banging in important goals in his new club. FPL players can be on the lookout for him.

Does this deal say anything about Nottingham Forest?

I've been watching Nottingham Forest's moves in this transfer window and I must say they are being bold and smart with the legs they are adding to the team.

I don't know what they said to get Lingard on this deal but getting him for free is a very good move.

Everything they have done so far is a clear indication of Nottingham Forest's ambition. We know they are not coming to win the league and they may well be beaten down to the championship again but with all these lads on their team sheet, they sure look good on paper. I hope they save their asses from getting relegated.

I'm rooting for the club, but I'm gutted for Lingard. Lemme know what you think about this move.

Did Lingard make a good choice?

Is this a nice deal for Nottingham Forest?

Is he in your FPL team?

Hey bro I don't watch these games and similarly don't know about these games and their players. But the point is that if the team has hired him then there should be some speciality in him or he deserves the place there and if they have hired him then obviously they have hired him seeing his background, and targeting their goals. Thanks for sharing and a beautiful write up dear.

Hahah... It's always interesting to hear contribution of non football fans in such situations. Thanks so much for your contribution.

You are on point! This is a very good deal for the club because this player is beyond average and having him in their team can make so much difference.

But for the player, this isn't exactly an ideal move because he could have easily signed for a better club.

Don't mind Lindgard jare, strange sombori is he.
He has looked at his age and clearly gone for the money. Westham couldn't go near that pay Forest is offering.

Again he has weighed things and thinks that rejecting first team football in Westham, for first team football in Forest,is not such a great price to pay,as far as the World Cup is concerned. He thinks Southgate trusts him and all he needs do, is play regularly.
He has looked at the coach of Forest and he sees that he is not so different from Moyes,as per quality. I think he is correct on that.

He refused to see that Westham already have proven EPL players for a start and that Westham will take him to Europe and it can enhance his World Cup chances. Look the guy has looked at his age and thinks that if the likes of Livepool,Chelsea,Real are not calling him, then he needs the money as his retirement is not so many years down the line.

He should hope the dressing room doesn't get ruffled. That's a dressing room with guys who earn about £15,000 or £20,000-a-week and you suddenly have Lindgard, coming in to earn something around the region of at least £150,000-a-week.

Ofcourse Forest can never complain,as they are glad to afford him a lavish welcome and pay him more than any of their players.

I wish him well.

You are very correct about this because even before he chose to sign for Nottingham Forest, he was already considering going for one of the Arabian clubs and this clearly shows that he is no longer looking at playing in big leagues or getting the best out of his gameplay.

To be fair, he isn't someone I rate so much but I genuinely believe he had so much to offer to teams with bigger ambition. He should be in Europa league but he chose a team that may well be running back to Championship. Haha.

He thinks Southgate trusts him and all he needs do, is play regularly.

No doubt about this.

Southgate has a way of selecting players. His recent selections and invites has proved that he is always ready to leave a spot for Lingard. If Forest doesn't work out for Lingard, it will only make it harder for him to get any call up from England.

Can't wait to see how the season unfolds.

Yeah indeed Southgate has his ways and Lingard is old enough to know that too.

He might very well enjoy both worlds simultaneously–money and the Worldcup. Mr. Cooper the coach of Forest happens to be an astute customer, so you can expect to see results much like and even better than those Brentford was churning out consistently last season.

I don't like his choice, but I think his Worldcup place is secure.

Cheers

(Edited)

I think he weighed his options because he wants to be a guarantee starter and that's what he would get at Nottingham Forest. West Ham are doing great and they have more competition for places. I also think he played it smart by signing just a year with them 😂😂🤣😂😂 so when it goes wrong, he would have convinced people of his worth for them to swoop in again.

Also, I think he wants to be in a team where he is the stand out player and of course, MONEY. 😍🤩🥰

Lingard. Haha. When I saw it was just a year deal, it felt like he was on a mission. He is the biggest earner in that squad and that changes his status from a bridesmaid to the bride. It will be nice to see how he copes with the pressure.

This can be a good one for him since he will have enough game time. He just has to be fit and also, hope the whole team gives their best.

Exactly. He is on a mission 🤣🤣😂 very sneaky guy. I hope he handles the pressure well too because this can go either way for him. If he plays well, he's hoping it would make other big teams come for him and if it goes south, he would be lucky to have any serious team come for him. I think he wants to prove a point, hoping it would help his England chances.

If Southgate remains as England Manager (and I don't see signs that he will be sacked. Haha), Lingard will only have to be fit and get some bangers to secure his spot in the squad.

Southgate have been showing some sort of fondness for him. They have various options in each position but Lingard can still get a call if he does a great job within the first 3 Months of the season.

I don't rate that Southgate at all... I don't understand his selection processes except for personal likeness.

Hahah... That makes two of us. His team selection is awful and he has no playing style for a squad that has so many talents like this current England squad.

The more he stays on the job, the more he increases the chances of this current squad missing out on golden trophy winning opportunities. To put things into context, if Southgate gets a sack letter from England, I don't think he can get a job in the top 10 clubs in EPL. Haha.

Exactly. He is terrible and average at least to be managing a team of that strength. No playing style. He just depends on the players to figure something out on the pitch based on their talents. No one can employ him in the Premier League. He has stayed too long on that job.
