My Actifit Report Card: April 30 2025 - Safe High Yield on Your Savings

So hopefully most of us are saving up for something. We want a car or a house or retirement money to live off of in the future. Where do we put this savings so that it is safe and grows as much as possible from yield?

Let's talk about 4 things.

First, you can hold your cash in a high yield savings account. The money is insured in US banks so it is safe. You can find good yield rates on sites like bankrate.com which are around 3.6% but were over 4% not long ago. You can withdraw from these accounts whenever you want.

Second, you can buy a CD which is going to be as safe and pay a little more yield like 4.1% but you can not take your money out for a fixed amount of months so your money is locked up.

Third, you could put your money in HBD with a current yield of 15% which is nice! But it can change at any time although it usually stays the same for many months or years. You can get your money out any time after 3 days transfer out of HBD Savings. Is it safe? I can't answer that. Crypto has a lot of issues as you probably already know but we can discuss in the comments.

Fourth, in the US you can buy Short Term Treasuries. This is safe because the US is not going to default on their loans. The yield is somewhere around 4.5%. If you want eaier access to your money at any time then you can buy the Treasuries through an ETF.

My Activity

for today included 2 or 3 of those exercise snacks I have been talking about the last few days. I did squats and high knees today, without weights.

At night I went out for my regular walk without a jacket required since it was 74 Fahrenheit out there! And the very first thing I saw was a crescent moon; it is finally back in my sites.

It is so nice to see the sunlight bouncing off the moon and into my eyes as I take my walk. It encouraged me to take a longer path and as you can see, I got over 10K for today's actifit number.
