My Actifit Report Card: January 28 2026 - Adam and Eve

(Edited)

Today I watched an interesting YouTube video about Adam and Eve.

But first, my activity. I shoveled more melting snow and ice from around my house. At night I took a good long walk under an almost full moon that was almost directly above me. That light helped me avoid random ice patches on my journey.

Adam and Eve

I found an interesting video about Adam and Eve. In the Bible, the book of Genesis tells us what happened when they were in the garden and a snake told Eve that she could eat the special tree's fruit. God had told them not to eat the fruit, or else they would die and they would also become like the gods, knowing good and evil.

They ate and they didn't die, but they grew up in a sense. They realized they had no clothes on, they realized they had to grow their own food and child bearing was going to be painful. They began to understand that there were good and bad things one could do, so in a sense they got a knowledge of good and evil.

Here is the video.

As you can see in the thumbnail, the video makes the point that one way to interpret the story is to conclude that the real "crime" of Adam and Eve was that they dared to think for themselves and acquire knowledge, even against the authority of the chief authority figure. They did not die as God said they would, but they did change.

Some biblical scholars you can find on YouTube like Dan McClellan say that this story is an Etiology (the study of causation or origination) which answers questions people had. Like why do we wear clothes? Why do we have to tend the land for crops to grow? Why is delivering a baby so painful? Why are we enemies with snakes?

What is the Real Story?

Was there Really an Adam and Eve?

Depends who you ask.

Science says no. Humans weren't created suddenly but evolved over millions of years from a common ancestor we have with other primates. The fields of Genetics (humans never bottlenecked to two individuals), Paleontology, Anthropology and Comparative Anatomy all reach this same conclusion.

Archeology doesn't find any indication of the story actually happening either. No Eden or tree was discovered. The evidence they do find is against this story - humans were hunter gatherers for hundreds of thousands of years, spread around Africa and other places, not living in a single garden.

Religious scholars don't agree among themselves as to what the story tells us.

Christians say this story is about Original Sin and the snake was Satan (head of the fallen Angels).

Islamic folks say Adam is a prophet and he and Eve both were temped, ate, and then repented. Humans are born pure and no one inherits sin from Adam and Eve.

LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, aka Mormons) say that Adam and Eve did not "fall" and we don't inherit their sin. This happened so they and us could gain knowledge, experience moral growth, have children, learn through opposition and progress to become more like God. So this was all part of God's plan; it had to happen.

It is interesting to me that each religious group teaches something different about the story to fit into their broader theological worldview.

So, Who Really Knows!

I love to hear different points of view. I respect different points of view. I love the people who have viewpoints whether they match mine or are completely opposite!

Feel free to comment anything you want on this, if you want to. I won't say anything bad about your point of view. You do you!

Have A Nice Day!

Much love and peace to all.

Let's respect each other and discuss things rather than fight and go to war over things.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My opinion is that facts show what is real or not, and science shows facts while religion doesn't... Also how is possible to populate earth from 2 people? That would mean incest between brothers and sisters which would be creepy and would being to many genetic problems on children
