Sina Drums covers Run to the Hills

Today I shoveled a lot of snow from yesterday's storm. But the roads weren't plowed so I couldn't drive or even walk anywhere. Instead I spent time with the fam and did some online stuff including watching some videos.

I came across a video from sina-drums who has been doing drum covers for over a decade. In this vid from last October with almost 300K views we see her playing along with a fast early metal classic. Namely - Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden from their 1982 third album The Number of the Beast. Wikipedia says it's recorded at 178 beats per minute!

Let's have a look.

So as I said, its very fast, very frantic, and we can see Sina having quite the workout to play the drum part that Clive Burr pounded out in the original record. She spends a lot of time slamming the cymbal to her left which I think is known as a hi-hat. I don't hear this very clearly in much of the mix because I guess the guitars and vocals hide it. But you get some of it at the beginning. The first 40 or so seconds has less going on.

Sina keeps time with the bass drum very well. She smashes the crash cymbal and ride cymbal fine as well. Over all, a great performance of a manic metal tune!

The Song Lyrics

I don't want to dwell on the lyrics because tbh they are quite depressing. And there is no denying that this kind of thing happened. The Europeans came across the sea (Atlantic Ocean) and felt that the people living here were savages that needed to be either subjugated or exterminated. Similar things still go on. When will we ever learn.

Earlier today I saw a post about someone at a church. That is a common thing. This post is from Venezuela and I had the thought of asking AI a question.

What kind of religion did Venezuela have before the Spanish came and enticed them all to be Catholic?

Well of course they did have religious beliefs and traditions before the Europeans came and decided they needed a new one. There was a lot going on down there, including Animism, Shamanism and general Ancestor Veneration. Basically they were trying to be in tune with nature and their local community.

Some may say it is good that they are mostly Christian now so they can go to Heaven after they pass. I can't say for sure. Just seems a shame that one group of people imposes their world view upon another. Again, similar things still go on. When will we ever learn?

Live Well and Be Free!

Do you own thing and respect others who should be allowed to do their own thing.

Wishing you all a great week ahead!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

That's the difficult part of winter. In our country, there's no winter though.
