Ever gotten into trouble for saying your own name?

In march 2018, in a clash between non league side Hamel Hempstead and East Thurrock a bizarre incident occurred as Ex- Arsenal man Sanchez Watt was sent off for saying his own name to a referee.

How did it happen?

Sanchez Watt who had netted the second goal of the 2-0 win, got into trouble when he had kicked the ball away. Official Dean Hulme in a bid to book him for a foul, asked for his name three times and Sanchez replied ''Watt'' but Hulme who belived he was saying ''What? sent him off. Hempstead team captain Jordan Parkes, had to swoop in immediately and explain to the referee that there was a misunderstanding before the official swiftly reverted his decision back to a yellow card, by then Sanchez who was on his way to the tunnel was called back into action.

After the game Hemel Hempstead chairman David Boggins said -

it was human error. "The referee was man enough to rectify it". I think everybody found it amusing afterwards - including the referee.
