WAFCON 2024: Opening Match Review and Upcoming Matches
Greetings
The WAFCON 2024 tournament kicked off yesterday at exactly 9pm (local time) with a match between the host, Morocco, and Zambia. I knew it was going to be a tough match as the two teams are on the same level in terms of quality, although Morocco had the upper hand to win because of the host and home advantage.
The match started, and within 58 seconds (less than a minute), Babra did a solo magic and found the back of Morocco’s net. You know that kind of thing—huge pressure mounted on the Moroccans because it would be a huge blow to lose the opening match on their home soil in front of thousands of supporters who came to cheer them.
Within the same first half, a penalty was awarded to Morocco after many reviews by VAR. It was converted to make the score level at 1:1. The match continued with both sides going hard at each other, and not long after, the Zambians scored another goal, making it a 1-goal lead (Morocco 1:2 Zambia). OMG! You needed to see how pressured the Moroccans became again. They did all they could to find the equalizer, but nothing came through until the 88th minute when Chebbak, one of the ladies I love so much in the Morocco team, pulled the string and equalised—and the stadium roared in joy. The Zambian goalkeeper was careless to have allowed the ball to get past her. What a mess!

Today's matches:
Today, my favourite team—of course, the Super Falcons of Nigeria—will be kicking off their campaign against Tunisia. I'm making a boast: this should be a very easy win for Nigeria. The match will be coming up by 5pm (local time).
Other matches today as well are: Senegal vs DR Congo — time is 3pm (local time). Algeria vs Botswana — time is 8pm (local time).
After the match, I shall come and make a report about it.
