Cayó Mackenzie Dern
The 32-year-old Jessica Andrade, currently ranked number five in the UFC women's strawweight world rankings, soundly defeated Dern in the second round at UFC 295.
Andrade came out looking for the KO from the first round, and although a good long combination of punches to Andrade's face, she was able to recover and send Mackenzie to the floor with a punch in the last seconds of the first round.
Mackenzie, who was left resentful after that combination of punches and apparently could not recover any more; everything was prepared for a great night for Dern, but it ended up becoming a nightmare.
It is true that Dern proposed and always insisted going forward, the gallantry and bravery of Mackenzie nobody will argue, at times she looked better, at times she felt like a winner, at times.
The truth be told Dern dominated the fight the volume of punches that Mackenzie threw was superior and in almost all aspects, but Andrade looked very strong, solid in her stand up she was always firm.
However a mistake by Dern her enough for Andrade to punish her and almost submit her at the end of the first round, but time would play in Dern's favor.
At the beginning of the second round Dern would show why she is one of the best in the category and one of the favorites of the public as well, and she would go on the attack and would make a risky combination of punches, however, Andrade would take advantage of this and with a powerful blow would send Dern to the canvas, who intelligently wanted the fight to develop on the canvas, but Andrade avoided the fight on the floor.
The third man in the ring had to step in and pull Mackenzie to his feet as he watched the opportunity to go out with his hand raised slip through his fingers and the fight had gone uphill.
The shark had smelled blood and the hunter instinct came out, looking for his prey without taking his eyes off Andrade connected the punches that would make the referee stop the fight awarding him the victory over Dern, that despite the defeat and if the circumstances had been different he would have kept the victory.
Personally I will not hide it, I would have liked to see Dern with her hands in the air at the end of the fight because I think she is a fighter who can bring something different to what we have already seen from Andrade who has now catapulted to the top of the division.
Dern lacked confidence or never knew how to avoid the punches of Jessica who looked fast hands and power punches knew how to connect. A fight posed as simple as possible with Andrade who did not get to face Dern on the ground but always relied on the power of his hands.
Well, what Dern has to do is to keep working on his hand defense, get less punches, have a tighter defense and come back stronger, for now he has to wait for the new opportunity.

Mackenzie tenía todo listo para dar ese salto y dar un golpe duro sobre la mesa para ser la contendiente número uno al cinturón de la categoría, pero una aguerrida Jessica Andrade frenó ese impulso que traía su compatriota.
Jessica Andrade con 32 años de edad, actual puesto número cinco en el ranking mundial femenino de peso paja en la UFC, venció contundentemente a Dern en el segundo round, en el evento UFC 295.
Dudas no quedaron ninguna Andrade salió a buscar el KO desde el primer asalto, y aunque una buena combinación larga de golpes al rostro de Andrade, supo reponerse y con un puñetazo mandar al piso a Mackenzie, en los últimos segundos del primer round.
Quien quedó resentida después de esa combinación de golpes y al parecer no pudo recuperarse más; todo estaba preparado para una gran noche para Dern, pero se terminó convirtiendo en una pesadilla.
Pues bien es cierto que Dern propuso e siempre insistió yendo para adelante, la gallardía y la bravura de Mackenzie nadie la va a discutir, por momentos lucía mejor, por momentos se sentía ganadora, por momentos.
La verdad sea dicha Dern dominaba el combate el volumen de golpes que tiró Mackenzie fue superior y en casi en todos los aspectos, pero Andrade se miraba muy fuerte, sólida en su parado estuvo siempre firme.
Sin embargo un error de Dern su suficiente para que Andrade la castigara y casi la sometiera al finalizar el primer asalto, pero el tiempo jugaría en favor de Dern.
Al inicio del segundo round Dern mostraría porque es una de las mejores de la categoría y una de las favoritas del público también y es que se lanzaría al ataque y haría una arriesgada combinación de golpes, no obstante, Andrade sacaría ventaja de esto y con un potente golpe mandaría a la lona a Dern, quien inteligente quiso que el combate se desarrollara en la lona, pero Andrade evitó la pelea aras del piso.
El tercer hombre del ring tuvo que intervenir y poner de pie a Mackenzie que miraba como la oportunidad de salir con la mano alzada se le escapan de las manos y la pelea se había tornado cuesta arriba.
El tiburón había olido sangre y el instinto cazador salía a flote, buscando a su presa sin despegarle la mirada Andrade conectó los puñetazos que haría que el referí detuviera el combate adjudicandole la victoria por sobre de Dern, que a pesar de la derrota y si las circunstancias hubieran sido otras se hubiera quedado con la victoria.
El lo personal no voy a ocultarlo me hubiera gustado ver a Dern que las manos en lo alto al final de la pelea pues pienso que es una peleadora que puede aportar algo distinto a lo que ya hemos visto de Andrade quien ahora se ha catapultado en lo alto de la división.
Dern pecó de confianza o nunca supo cómo evitar los golpes de Jessica quien se vio rápida de manos y los golpes de poder los supo conectar. Una pelea planteada de lo más sencillo con una Andrade que no llegó a enfrentar a Dern en el piso sino que siempre confío en el poder de sus manos.
Bueno lo que le toca a Dern es seguir trabajando su defensa de manos, recibir menos golpes tener una defensa más cerrada y volver más fuerte, por ahora toca esperar la nueva oportunidad.
