The Geneva ATP 250 tournament ended in an exciting way, with a great match between two players who lived a week of great inspiration; both players arrived undefeated, but it was the Portuguese who was looking for the epic, to beat a top ten player in the final. The young Norwegian is ranked eighth in the ranking; something that represented a double challenge.

El primer set fue una verdadera batalla, iniciada con el saque de Joao, un jugador al que me dio gusto verle luchar punto por punto, atacando la red y dejando tiros cortos, para exigir el físico del noruego. Debo ser sincero y confesar que, aunque soy seguidor de la carrera de Casper Ruud, hoy le iba a Sousa, porque he visto cómo ha competido durante esta semana, manteniendo un balance ideal entre ataque y defensa. I must be honest and confess that, although I am a follower of Casper Ruud's career, today I was going to Sousa, because I have seen how he has competed during this week, maintaining an ideal balance between attack and defense. Joao no perdió la fe y su insistencia le valió un preciado break, con el que marcó diferencia y pudo aguantar los intentos de recuperación, por parte del noruego. Sin embargo, las dudas parecieron afectar al talentoso Casper, quién cedió el break con errores no forzados a la línea lateral. En el momento de la verdad, fue Ruud quien mostró su temple y capacidad de reacción, controlando muy bien sus recepciones para dificultar el intento de cierre por parte de Sousa; Casper logró quebrar al noveno game y posteriormente sostuvo con la firmeza de sus aces (11 en total).
