Magguts internal spring replacement P365 pics and video

So, I've posted several weapons from my stash before. Here is my favorite everyday concealed carry piece, upgraded. I just got this magazine spring kit from Magguts dot com. These kits promise to add +2 rounds to the 10 round and 12 round Sig Sauer P365 (9mm) magazines.

This is the "after" pic, with the Magguts internal spring, 10 round factory magazine (now 11 + 1) and Amory Craft pinky extension.

For some reason, 12 rounds seems to be this magic number desired for concealed carry. I don't know what it is, but it seems to stick with me as well.

This shows the pistol with the factory 12 round magazine, notice how much more it sticks out the bottom than the flush 10 round magazine.

Here is a pic of the spring kits. They sell +2 kits for both the 10 round magazine, and the 12 round magazine, turning them into 12 round and 14 round, respectively. They are promising a +2 kit for the 15 round magazine as well to be released soon.

Here is a picture of the two magazine springs. The factory is on the left (with Armory Craft pinky extension at the bottom. The new Magguts kit on the right with the red follower.

I did not use the Magguts base plate. I prefer the Amory Craft pinky extension on this short grip frame so that my pinky is not hanging off the bottom in the air. This gives a much better grip, but it did reduce the capacity to 11 + 1, instead of 12 + 1.

A worthwhile trade-off for me, and I still get that magic number 12 for concealed carry. And yes, I still have the ugly 15 round mags in the car just in case backups are needed. I just love how small and concealable this is while having the accuracy and shoot-a-bility better than many larger firearms. I can easily tuck this into a jacket or shorts pocket and carry all day without being irritated at the size or weight.

Here's the video of the new magazine in action (with double taps, of course) to test the reliability.

So far, it seems reliable. I've only put a couple magazines through it to test, but have seen a few other videos as well. I'll still carry my other mags with factory springs as backup for awhile until I've built up more trust in these, but so far I am really liking the form factor and even the look of the smaller magazine with the AC pinky extension. And yes, that is an Amory Craft skeletonized flat trigger as well, which I LOVE.
Enjoy!

That seems like a nice little upgrade, hopefully it stands up to muster for quality! I agree with you, I like having the factory nose on it more than what they gave you in the kit. It fits the gun better!

One of my next investments for this year is going to be some kind of holster for me to carry mine. Our son and I will be spending far more time outdoors and probably in a lot more woods away from people so I want to start carrying mine, preferably in a holster. I just need to find one that fits and seems comfortable.

Holsters are very much a personal preference kind of thing. I've been through several. I find myself using the Remora "sticky" pocket holster the most often. It works in the pocket obviously, but also a very comfortable IWB and the sticky rubber keeps it in place even better than most clip holsters. There is no retention strap to keep the weapon secured under heavy activity, or from dislodging and getting lost, so it would not be my 1st choice for woods carry. I found a Tactica Belly band very nice, especially when worn higher around the chest. It has a nice kydex holster for retention, and a canted angle that makes it faster and easier to draw. I also have an Aliengear shoulder rig that I like, it also can be adjusted for either vertical or angled cant carry, and also allows for two extra magazines (it does not fit the laser though). I have also tried a Sneaky Pete in plain sight OWB, seems kind of large, but may have uses.

The "Naked holster" Looks interesting, it's basically just a clip that covers the trigger and clips it to the belt. For use with the Laser, I go back to the Remora, or also have a leather shoulder rig from J&B leather. I hear a lot of folks really liking the Vedder holsters as well, but haven't tried one.

There's a few options if you're in the market. After all that, I don't actually carry this in the woods. It stays in my car while at home so I don't forget it when going out, and then is just my "city" carry gun. For the woods, I like to carry the larger .460 Rowland in a Chest holster, mainly just because we do have quite a few Bears and Lions in our woods up here (and they are apparently re-introducing Gray Wolves this year!) and I prefer the extra stopping power just in case I run across an angry one.

So simple an upgrade...So illegal here.

We are limited to ten round magazines on our semi-auto handguns. The magazines are the standard ones but have a little crimp pressed into it preventing the full complement of rounds to be inserted. It's a simple matter of drilling out the divot, the small indentation, of course and then it's a full magazine once more...But get caught with a magazine in that condition and it's a federal firearms offense.

Similar here, just not quite as restrictive. They put a 15 round limit on us here in Colorado a few years ago. We almost got rid of it two years ago just missed getting voted out by like two votes. Ours at least just prevents new purchases, older ones are grandfathered in and allowed to possess. I'm hoping it will come up again, even though I don't really use the larger ones except on my Ruger 10-22 and AR-15.

It doesn't seem to impede me too much, it's just be nice to have a few extra in the magazine. All the IPSC courses of fire take into consideration the ten round capacity and it's not too bad, makes one get good and magazine changes, and strategy.

Yes, back in my days of competition, they used to limit us to six rounds to keep it almost even with the revolver folks. Not so much concern about that nowadays.

Makes sense...I shoot IPSC against a few who use revolvers. They have their own division but get included into the overall results also. Some do ok, but nowhere near as fast as the semi's.

I've wondered about these, thanks for making this post!

I don't see the appeal of the 10-round mag extender since it can't be flush. With that much of an extension you could go to the 12-round mag and put in the +2 kit for 14 rounds. The +2 for the 15-rounders is appealing for for less reloads at the range or a backup mag (but if you think you'll get in a situation where you'll need ~30 rounds, maybe the P365 is underkill? ;)

Hi, glad you liked it. To be clear the 10 round +2 extender WOULD be flush (and hold the 12 rounds promised if I used the flush base plate provided with the kit. I just don't like the feel of it with the flush magazine and prefer the AC pinky extension on it, which limited it to holding 11 rounds. I do have the 12 round mags (now 14) and they also seem to work great. Here's pics of the 12/14 rounders. I had someone else ask about this on another page and took some additional pics last night.

Pic with the 12/14 round mag. I still think the 10/12 round looks much better and just slightly less bulky in the pocket. The 15 round mags are just plain butt ugly sticking out and I usually don't take pics, just for crisis backups, lol.

Oh so you can get the 10 rounder flush-ish, with the bottom bulb protruding, with a +2 capacity? I took another look at the photos at Magguts and it's not as bad as I thought. Their baseplate pinky extension is maybe another couple millimeters taller but that's not too bad. I'm more tempted now, but I still want to wait to hear more reliability anecdotes.

Yup, I just don't like the feel of it with the flush mag. Not that my hands are super large or anything (med gloves), but the grip just feels funky with the pinky hanging off. We'll see how it does over time, maybe it will lighten a bit enough to fit the 12th with the Amory Craft Pinky extension.
