Para nadie era un misterio que el Bayern viene en un momento futbolístico increíble siendo uno de los principales favoritos para llevarse la copa esta temporada además de llegar con un empujón anímico muy bueno luego de ganar el Clásico Alemán contra el Borussia Dortmund quedando como líder en solitario a 4 puntos del segundo.
Por otro lado, el Barcelona está en un declive increíble haciendo su peor actuación en liga y Champions en los últimos años, adicionalmente estaban obligados a vencer al Bayern en su propio estadio siendo esto algo que nunca ha logrado el club español, a pesar de todos los factores en contra existía una pequeña posibilidad al ver las bajas de jugadores importantes para el Bayern como lo son Kimmich, Goretzka y Gnabry.

Durante los primeros minutos del partido el juego fue un ida y vuelta bastante interesante en donde incluso se podría decir que el Barcelona estaba dominando en partido destacando una muy buena ofensiva en donde Neuer tuvo algunas participaciones claras al momento de atajar e incluso un desborde por izquierda del Barcelona termino en un centro con peligro al cual no logro llegar ningún jugador. El partido no duro mucho tiempo en este estado y luego del minuto 30 se podía apreciar una gran superioridad del Gigante Alemán en donde dominaban en todos los aspectos del partido y en donde Neuer prácticamente desapareció de las cámaras, el Bayern seguía atacando y creando ocasiones de peligro para el arco de Ter Stegen. En el minuto 34 de partido se abriría el marcador a favor de los alemanes producto de una jugada en donde Lewandowski dentro del área regateo de gran manera a Pique para lanzar un centro al segundo poste en donde llegaría Muller para cabecear de manera muy cómoda y cruzar el balón, aunque el defensor logro despejar el balón en lo que parecía ser la línea el reloj del árbitro le aviso que el balón había atravesado la línea y con ello el primer gol del Bayern llego.
