My Actifit Report Card: April 1 2022

Well, I’m feeling better than I have been, which is nice. Still not back to normal and I’m taking it easy until I get in to see the GI doctor, but other than the not-terribly-scary not-terribly-miserable stuff I’m basically great as new.

Sure, that’s the thing that makes it hard to sleep, so that’s significantly less than ideal.

It also turns out that my concerns about potential lactose intolerance seem to be misfounded. I tried having some soft cheeses earlier today (since that would be something that should set it off if I am having issues), and as far as I can tell there is no related increase in symptoms–or at least, nothing that is noticeable compared to being on an elimination or minimization diet.

That doesn’t mean I’m entirely clear, but it does give me more options when it comes to what I eat, and as far as I’m aware I don’t have any other dietary considerations (other than the fact that I really ought to eat better overall, but that doesn’t seem to be responsible for my woes so much as something that just doesn’t help me be my best self).

Felt a little bad today because I wasn’t hitting the same word-counts, but then I realized I did a Substack post, re-recorded the parts of my podcast that weren’t up to spec (basically all the body), edited another section of my book (though I do need to step up my progress) and listened to The Screwtape Letters, so actually I think I’ve had a pretty productive day.

You can kind of tell that C. S. Lewis just wanted to be done by the end of the book, because of how it ends–or maybe I’m looking at some foreshadowing and discounting it because of the abruptness of the ending, but in either case it’s still an easy recommendation.
