My Actifit Report Card: September 2 2022

Another slump day.

I’m just feeling really down and sort of directionless. I have the Jovia stuff to work on, which is something, though it’s certainly not coming out before late next week.

I’ve got more stuff for Oasis Roads, but it’s still not feeling any closer to completion.

I’m worried about the future of the country, and while I’m certainly not a fan of what it is I worry that any step toward meaningful progress will be painful and lead to even worse things than we could possibly imagine.

Of course, maybe a lot of people will see reason really quick, but that’s not what people are known for.

Still in the AI-generated art fight mode. Seems like there isn’t a lot of consensus one way or another, but the general understanding is that people are less hostile to it than the initial anger suggested. We’ll see where it goes.

I cannot get over the fact that the same people who call themselves socialists are losing their minds over this technology because it’s “replacing artists,” but maybe that’s because they don’t have very much mind to lose. “Oh no, indie creators on a budget of $30/month are able to make games that can compete nearly toe-to-toe with games with a hundred times that budget!”

Barring the usual stupidity associated with socialism, it’s hard to ignore the fact that they de facto want the creative industries to be monopolized by those with means.

Of course, I also see the danger in having people use AI without disclosing it, especially because you run into actual issues with questions about stolen content (but not in the way people who get their knickers in a twist over AI seem to think). It is a little risky in the sense that you don’t want people to feel like they are being deceived into a false bill of sale, but it’s also somewhere that offers a greater opportunity to communicate a vision than anything that came before it with regards to the individual as a creative force.

Anyway, had more time with friends today. Feeling good, if tired and unproductive.
