Greetings dear ladies and gentlemen of the #ladiesofhive community. I’m joining this week’s contest by responding to the prompts that stirred my memory and took me back in time.

There was a time when I was a book collector and a voracious reader, but I reached the unhealthy extreme of buying them compulsively, racking up credit card debt 💳—definitely not a wise habit. As a shock therapy, I decided to sell my library, which broke my heart, but it truly cured the mania. After that, I kept reading, but in a less costly format: ebooks. Though they don’t compare to the feeling of holding a brand-new book in your hands.

Speaking of hands, I must admit that the kitchen and I were never very close. That was my mother’s domain—and still is—which gave me little chance to invade it. It wasn’t until she had to leave for work that I had my first culinary experiences. Being the sweet tooth that I am, I remember the first recipe I tried was buns, and I think they turned out pretty well because my father and brother devoured them instantly. Truth be told, I never made them again—I preferred buying them.

And now, for the final prompt: if I were to win a scholarship, I’d love to study Data Science. It’s a discipline that has intrigued me for a long time, but I’ve never been able to pursue it due to the lack of a good computer setup, which is essential to handle the volume of data the field demands.

Saludos queridas damas y caballeros de la comunidad #ladiesofhive, me sumo al concurso semanal respondiendo las consignas que hicieron volver mi memoria al pasado.

En una época fui una coleccionista de libros y una lectora voraz, pero llegando al extremo negativo de comprarlos compulsivamente , endeudando mi tarjeta de crédito 💳 lo que no era nada sano. Como terapia de choque decidí vender mi biblioteca con el dolor de mi alma, pero definitivamente me curó la manía. Después de ello, seguí leyendo libros pero en una versión menos onerosa, que es leer ebooks, aunque no se compara con la sensación de tener un libro nuevo entre las manos.

Y hablando de manos, debo reconocer que la cocina y yo nunca fuimos muy cercanas, ya que ese era el reino de mi madre, y lo continúa siendo, lo que me daba muy poca ocasión de invadirlo, y no fue sino hasta que ella tuvo que ausentarse por trabajo que tuve mis primeras experiencias culinarias. Como golosa que soy, recuerdo que la primera receta que experimenté fue la de bollos, y creo que me salieron bastante bien porque mi padre y hermano literalmente los devoraron de una. Lo cierto es que nunca más los volví a hacer, porque prefería comprarlos.

Y llegando a la última consigna, si me llegara a ganar una beca me gustaría estudiar Ciencia de Datos, ya que es una disciplina que hace tiempo llama mi atención, pero que nunca pude estudiar debido a la falta de un buen equipo informático, ya que es algo imprescindible para poder manejar el volumen de datos que implica dicha materia.
