A Little While Before It Rains

I left home in the afternoon to make a doctor's appointment. In the east of the city, there wasn't much traffic today; it was the beginning of the week, and everything was very quiet. There were few people on the streets; it was strange not to see so much movement of people on the subway. I thought it was great; the day was going to be very quiet. Normally, street vendors don't work on Mondays; they have a day off, which is why I don't see street vendors on the streets and avenues.

Un Rato Antes Que Llueva

Salí en la tarde de casa a buscar una cita médica. En el este de la ciudad, hoy no había mucho tráfico, comenzaba la semana y todo estaba muy tranquilo. Poca gente en la calle, era extraño no ver tanto movimiento de personas en el metro. Me pareció genial, el día iba a ser muy tranquilo. Regularmente, los comerciantes de la calle o vendedores ambulantes no trabajan los lunes, tienen su día libre, por esa causa no veo puestos de buhoneros en las calles y avenidas.

But when I arrived at the building where the medical center is located to make my appointment, it turned out to be closed, and everything was chaos for me. When I took out my phone to entertain myself and wait for someone to arrive, I learned from a text message that today had been declared a day of national rejoicing in our country. No one was working today. And I actually knew it and had forgotten.

Pero cuando llegue al edificio, donde está ubicado el centro médico para pedir mi cita, resulta que estaba cerrado y todo fue un caos para mí, cuando saque mi teléfono para entretenerme y esperar que llegara alguien, pude enterarme por un mensaje que hoy estaba decretado día de júbilo nacional en nuestro país, nadie trabajaba hoy. Y realmente yo lo sabía y lo había olvidado.

Since I had to leave, I took advantage of the opportunity to stop by the park. It was quite close, and I decided to relax a little while I took my walk; I tried to have a good time, forgetting about the setback. What had seemed like a peaceful day turned out to be a disastrous one. The afternoon began to change, the sky was cloudy, and there was a threat of rain, so I wanted to continue my walk and lower my stress level.

Como debía irme, aproveché de pasar por el parque. Estaba bastante cerca y decidí relajarme un poco mientras que daba mi paseo; trataba de pasarla bien, olvidando el contratiempo. Lo que me pareció un día tranquilo resultó, un día desastroso. As predicted for today, the rain wanted to get home before it rained, as everything becomes chaotic, and then the bus doesn't run, and so I got home and it started to rain. That was my activity today, a bit crazy.
