After 53 years, Italian football is back on the roof of Europe after having played a great European Championship and a great final against a good England.

Italy played well in all the matches of the European Championship and, in particular, it won and convinced in the three matches of its group where it showed good soccer and, above all, a compact and solid organization of play.

The only match in which Italy suffered was the semifinal against Spain.
On that occasion Spain played much better than Italy and it is enough to look at the statistics of the match to realize this.

Ball possession Spain: 70.1%.
Ball possession Italy: 29.9%.

Shots on goal Spain: 5
Italy shots on goal: 4

Total shots Spain: 16
Total shots Italy: 7

The lottery of penalties, however, rewarded Italy that qualified for the final: England - Italy.

In the final the music definitely changed and Italy showed a very different attitude compared to the match in the semifinal.

The match started very badly for Italy that conceded a goal after only two minutes.
A real cold shower!
During the first half Italy keeps possession of the ball:

Italy first half ball possession: 61%.
Ball possession England first half: 39%.

The first half ends with England in the lead and with Italy shooting once on goal and 4 times off goal while England shoots once on goal and scores with that shot.

Italy keeps the ball rolling and is more dangerous than England but does not seem to be able to come back from the loss.
The music changes in the 54th minute of the second half when coach Mancini decides to replace Italy's center forward Immobile with Berardi who is a right winger.
Without the central attacker, Italy becomes more dangerous and England's defense loses a point of reference and Insigne plays the role of "false nine".

Shortly after Immobile's substitution, at the 67th minute of the second half Italy draws with a goal scored by defender Bonucci who puts into the net a ball coming from the left post of the English goal.

The final of the European Championships is decided by the lottery of penalties in which the goalkeeper of Italy, Donnarumma, saves two penalties.
England misses a total of 3 penalties while Italy misses only two and Italy becomes the European Champion.

I think Italy deserved to win for what they showed throughout the match and redeemed the disappointing performance of the semifinal against Spain.

A great satisfaction for Italy that returns to win a European championship after so many years: 53.

I watched the whole European Championship with my family and a group of friends in front of my garage.
I took down the television in my bedroom and got myself a portable antenna.
Pleasant company and a few pieces of pizza rounded out six carefree and fun evenings watching 6 great soccer games.

The only negative note about this final?
Honestly I did not like to see little attention to spacing between people inside the stadium especially considering the increase of contagions that is happening in England ...
My wife and I do not have a steady and secure job and a future lockdown could really be economically catastrophic for us and for those who do not work in a public institution!

Another thing that always leaves me a little discouraged is to see fans beating each other up for a soccer game and the images I saw on the web of the clashes before the game were really ugly.
I personally like a lot of jokes when they are ironic and funny and I like people who can laugh at themselves.
How much intelligence is there in the heads of people who beat each other up over the colors of two soccer teams?
None for me!
Sport should always be a moment of joy, fun and respect for the adversary, but this is often only theory and it is especially so in the world of soccer...

Congratulations to Italy and congratulations also to England, who gave us a beautiful and exciting match with many twists and turns, especially during the penalty shootout.

Long live Italy but above all long live all sport, the real and healthy one!

Dopo 53 anni l'Italia calcistica risale sul tetto d'Europa dopo aver giocato un grande europeo e una grande finale contro una buona Inghilterra.

L'Italia ha giocato bene tutte le partite dell'europeo e in particolare ha vinto e convinto nelle tre partite del suo girone dove ha mostrato un buon calcio e soprattutto un organizzazione di gioco compatta e solida.

L'unica partita in cui l'Italia ha sofferto è stata la semifinale contro la Spagna.
In quell'occasione la Spagna ha giocato decisamente meglio dell'Italia e basta guardare le statistiche della partita per rendersene conto.

Possesso palla Spagna: 70.1%

La lotteria dei rigori però ha premiato l'Italia che si è qualificata per la finale: Inghilterra - Italia.

Nella finale la musica è decisamente cambiata e l'Italia ha mostrato un atteggiamento decisamente diverso rispetto alla partita della semifinale.

La partita è iniziata molto male per l'Italia che ha subito un gol dopo solo due minuti.
Una vera e propria doccia fredda!
Durante il primo tempo è l'Italia a mantenere il possesso della palla:

Possesso palla Italia primo tempo: 61%
Possesso palla Inghilterra primo tempo: 39%

Il primo tempo finisce con l'Inghilterra in vantaggio e con l'Italia che tira una sola volta in porta e 4 volte fuori porta mentre l'Inghilterra tira una sola volta in porta e con quel tiro fa gol.

L'Italia mantiene il pallino del gioco ed è più pericolosa dell'Inghilterra ma non sembra poter rimontare il gol di svantaggio.
La musica cambia al minuto 54 del secondo tempo quando l'allenatore Mancini decide di sostituire la punta centrale dell'Italia Immobile con Berardi che è un'ala destra.
Senza punta centrale l'Italia diventa più pericolosa e la difesa dell'Inghilterra perde un punto di riferimento e Insigne ricopre il ruolo di "falso nove".

Poco dopo la sostituizione di Immobile l'Italia, al sessantasettesimo minuto del secondo tempo l'Italia pareggia con un gol del difensore Bonucci che ribadisce in rete un pallone proveniente dal palo sinistro della porta inglese.

La finale degli europei viene decisa dalla lotteria dei rigori nella quale si mette in luce il portiere dell'Italia Donnarumma che para due rigori.
L'Inghilterra sbaglia in totale 3 rigori mentre l'Italia solo due ed è L'Italia a laurearsi Campione d'Europa.

Penso che l'Italia ha meritato di vincere per quello che ha fatto vedere durante tutta la partita e ha riscattato la prestazione deludente della semifinale contro la Spagna.

Una bella soddisfazione per l'Italia che torna a vincere un campionato europeo dopo tanti anni: 53.

Io ho visto tutto l'europeo con la mia famiglia un gruppo di famiglie di amici davanti al mio garage.
Ho sceso il televisore della mia camera da letto e mi sono procurato un'antenna portatile.
Una piacevole compagnia e qualche pezzo di pizza sono stati il completamento di sei serate spensierate e divertenti.

Unica nota negativa di questa finale?
Sinceramente non mi è piaciuto vedere poca attenzione al distanziamento all'interno dello stadio soprattutto considerato l'aumento di contagi che stà avvenendo in Inghilterra...
Io e mia moglie non abbiamo un posto fisso e sicuro e un futuro lockdown potrebbe davvero essere economicamente catastrofico!

Un'altra cosa che mi lascia sempre un certo sconforto è vedere i tifosi picchiarsi a sangue per una partita di calcio e le immagini che ho visto sul web degli scontri avvenuti prima della partita sono state davvero brutte.
A me personalmente piacciono molto gli sfottò quando sono ironici e divertenti e mi piacciono le persone che sanno ridere di se stessi.
Quanta intelligenza c'è nelle teste di persone che si picchiano per i colori di due squadre di calcio?
Per me nessuna!
Lo sport dovrebbe essere sempre momento di gioia, divertimento e rispetto dell'avversario ma questa è spesso solo teoria e lo è soprattutto nel mondo del calcio...

Complimenti all'Italia e complimenti anche all'Inghilterra che ci hanno regalato una bella partita avvincente e con tanti colpi di scena soprattutto durante i rigori.

Viva l'Italia ma soprattutto viva tutto lo sport, quello vero e sano!
