My Actifit Report Card: July 26 2021

My son got a call this morning from someone who's dog had found his lost Firebird disc out at the disc golf course. Of course we had to rush out there to get it back. The disc was left on the top of the signpost for hole twelve.

I wanted to ride along to get some extra practice on the course. I usually throw out of bounds on hole twelve so I was trying to come up with a game plan for it. My son was giving me very careful instructions about how to throw and where to throw. As an illustration he threw a placement throw out of bounds off the tee, lol. Luckily we found that right away.

With his instructions I took some careful throws and managed to make three backhand and two forehand throws into the fairway. I think I've found some discs that work a lot better for me for the hole. It is much easier to get a slower speed disc to fade less and stay in the fairway.

My son was hesitant to make any throws but decided to throw one disc that was new to him. I was spotting and watched it go out of bounds.

We knew about where it was and searched and searched for it but could not find it. We found three other discs out in the rough though. I got two of them back to their owners but one had no number on it. My son did not want it so I latched on to it. It is a very nice 168 gram Champion Colossus. I threw it this evening when we were playing our usual disc golf round by the river. It is a little more stable than the other Star Colossus that I have so I might end up bagging this one.

For now the new disc has bumped my Wraith out of the bag but I'm not sure if I need to carry two 14 speed drivers. I'm pretty happy with my 14 speed World disc and I rarely have a need to throw it.

So anyhow, back on hole twelve this morning after we were searching for some time a dog walker came along and offered to help us out. He had the dog take a sniff of my son's pack and then search around in the field. In no time the dog found the disc buried within the tall grass. We were all very happy and so was the dog. He was pretty proud to be able to find it so fast.

We thanked him and his owner a lot. That's two discs that we have come back to us from dogs finding them. It is pretty amazing to me that people are able to train their dogs to find things like that so easily.
