My Actifit Report Card: May 30 2022
I played an eighteen-hole round of disc golf today out at my favorite local course. I scored a +6 or one throw better than yesterday. I was struggling a bit trying out some new techniques with my forehand throw and trying to break in a replacement disc for the one that I lost yesterday.
I can see a big improvement in my throwing distance with the new techniques that I was trying out. The only issue was that I was having trouble both with accuracy and getting used to how far I was throwing. It is going to take some practice to get used to throwing differently. I think I'm going to need to focus on doing just a few differences at a time until I figure things out.
Forehand throwing has always been a difficult thing for me to do. The tips I have seen are really good but improving the distance I can throw is not very helpful if I can't learn to control it.
My other issue was breaking in a new disc and using it when I normally would not use it. It always takes a few throws for me to break in a new disc. I don't have that much power and until a disc gets broken in I can't get much distance out of a very over-stable disc. I guess I don't need to use my most stable disc for distance anyway so it doesn't matter that much. I just want to use it for throwing into really strong headwinds and have something that consistently fades in all cases.
Still, I like to have a few throws on a disc that I'm carrying and will be using in tournaments. The plastic gets more predictable in grip and a bit more flexible.
