My Actifit Report Card: February 17 2023

avatar

My friends and I played a heavily wooded eighteen-hole course today. It was a bit muddy and footing was challenging at times. Other than that conditions were nice with just a bit of rain at the start of the round.

I managed a win with scores of +12, +15, and, +25. We were all struggling a bit with the tight gaps and close trees. When you're used to playing the more open courses it can be difficult to play the tightly wooded ones.

I was throwing a putter off the tee again on some of the holes and that seemed to help with controlling the fade. I'm not used to throwing a putter hard but I'm getting a bit better at it. Ever since I lost the first Mantra disc on a big tree kick I've realized how badly a fast tree hit can go. At least with a slower-moving putter disc, it does not kick as far if something goes wrong.

Divergent discs make a fairway disc out of a floppy soft plastic blend. I've been wanting to try that one out and I might pick one up at the Pro Shop if they still have some and I win some scrip.

It was mossy, rainy, and muddy out on the disc golf course today:

A hawk was watching us from the treetops:

Yesterday I was predicting you will win, congratulation man you are the winner but rain stops your game for todays course, really it is muddy and cold than yesterday.

The hawk was very keen by watching your game♥️🌲🌨️

Thank you. Wooded courses are tough to play when you are not used to them. I'm trying to learn the course better for a tournament coming up in a few weeks.

Friends, this season my country has no rain at all, some trees wither, I feel sorry for it because it needs rain to survive, so I'm worried it might die some crops, I hear your country has rain, I think Good.

There is rain but the weather has been changing. There are many trees that are not used to the hot and dry weather we are having in the summer. Sorry to hear that your country has been so dry.

maybe at night the road will certainly look more scary. Because it looks like it's not being taken care of, I get goosebumps a little when I look at it

Was there an incident that a hawk catches one of the discs thinking that it was the prey? Hawks are known to catch smaller birds while in mid-air; I'm just curious.

I think this game is so much fun by playing on eighteen holes, especially in muddy, of course it's a challenge in itself to be able to score and you manage to win from your friends,
This field does look unusually full of leaves, I usually see it so clean, is the eagle watching its prey?

Muddy rounds are always fun! I got into disc golf REALLY heavy over the last 9 months or so and was thinking about starting to post content here about it. It's really cool to see disc golf content already being posted on HIVE.

Have you gotten any ACES yet?

It is always fun but the mud can sure be challenging for me. I tend to have the most problems from standstill forehand throws but I've flipped over once on a run-up too. My forehand technique could use some improvement and I find myself off balance if my footing slips. I think I should work on throwing more upright and moving through with my back leg or something.

I have aced a few times, but not recently. I hit one on a downhill 298 foot hole over some tree tops to a basket that was not visible from the tee. I was pretty happy with that one but there was a lot of luck involved. I kind of retired that disc but it's tempting to play with it again since I lost the one that I purchased as a replacement for it, however, it is a bit flippy now.

(Edited)

I've only been playing since around May of last year, and I'm absolutely obsessed lol.

I've thrown two aces with a Mint discs Mustang, one with a "tee-length" 360 backhand (pics or it didn't happen). I've finally learned how to consistently get the disc to flip both with forehand and backhand throws, and now I've got to work on distance and accuracy. My furthest backhand drive is around 350, so I'm off to a good start.

I've been away from HIVE for a while, but I'm really digging coming back and seeing disc golf content by a few different people. Might be time to make some new friends to share a round or two. I usually throw between -2 and +2 at my local course (par 60).

Always in victory friend @lightsplasher how good those scores +12, +15 and +25. Despite the fact that the spaces were narrow and with many trees nearby, it was successful. I have never seen a hawk, well because of the marine areas where I live in Venezuela facing the Caribbean Sea, what there are are fish and seagulls. successes.

It sounds like you had a fun and challenging round of disc golf in the woods! Congrats on your win! The hawk sighting must have been a nice bonus to the day's experience.
