My Actifit Report Card: February 27 2023
I played a short practice round of disc golf with five discs this morning. It started snowing about halfway through the round but it wasn't that cold. The snow melted right away after it fell.
The new discs are flying fine but I need to throw them a lot more in better conditions to see if I like them. The Binx disc is so soft that I'm not sure that I'm going to figure out how to throw it well. I've used other soft discs before and eventually I usually can get the hang of them. If I can figure out how to throw it well this disc should be good in heavily wooded courses. I'm not getting very good distance out of it yet though.

I know this short easy nine-hole course so well that is a good place for me to test out new discs and see if I can get them to fly nicely.

That's a puffy-looking bird, so cute!
I just noticed that the blue discs look more visible on the ground compared to the yellow and red. The yellow and red feels like they will blend with leaves on the ground which makes it more difficult to spot when finding a lost disc. The light blue ones are clearly visible from this view of the photo.
I think the bird was a bit cold and had its feathers puffed out.
Different colors do show up better on some surfaces. Grey is one of my least favorite colors to try to find. Black is easier to find than grey but you can't write your number on the disc unless you have a white marker. Pink is my favorite color for locating in a variety of places. Yellow is a really hard color to find in taller dry grass or leaves. The disc above is actually a bit orange although the camera does not pick that up well. I think it will be better than a light yellow to find. Mixed colors can be tough to find and tend to blend into areas kind of like a zebra.
It does make a difference in a tournament. If you only have a few minutes to locate a disc you are better off throwing a color that is easy to find. (Or not throwing it someplace special, lol)

The bird was a little far away and I had to zoom in around 30x so the picture ended up a bit distorted. Birds this size are always moving around a lot so they are sometimes difficult to photograph.

I think the bird was not sure about my intentions and was patiently waiting for me to leave so she could eat the grain from the feeder.

I think this was a female bird because it was not as brightly colored. It was a bit cold and her feathers were out a bit.
happy playing disc golf today and using with five discs must be a lot of fun, and the bird looks so pretty with its really cool plumage color.
