My Actifit Report Card: March 28 2023

avatar

I still nursing my arm. I guess I'm resigned to the fact that it is going to heal slowly if I keep playing disc golf, so I'm doing other things for now.

I have some tournaments coming up soon, so I would like to get as much rest in for my arm as possible before I play hard on it again. In the long run, I think that my playing disc golf will help my conditioning. It sure beats sitting around the house.

For activities today, I ran a few errands and did some yard work. I am making some progress on clearing an area for a new tree, but it might have to be planted next season.

I saw this piece of old technology today that was state of the art back in the day:

It really seems like we have come a long way in a relatively short time. As I look towards our digital future, I'm hopeful that there will be a great benefit for all the people of the world.

Hopefully, your arm is better before the day of the tournament so that the pain in your arm will not hinder your playing.

That equipment looks dope! What's that for? I can't seem to figure out the purpose.

It is a cash register. The shopkeeper would press the buttons on the sale and turn the crank to calculate the transaction, open the drawer, and print the receipt. I'm unsure if it totaled the sales for the day or what. My guess is the different color keys were for issuing a refund but I really don't know much about how it was operated.

That's so cool! I thought it was some kind of calculator or equipment for an exchange :D

It was beautifully made, and even the direction of the wood grains was well thought out.

Wow! I was gone so long, all I have been doing is catching up! Being away for a couple of months is a killer!

What did you do to your arm? Sorry to hear that you got injured! I think you are doing your best to let it rest. When is the next tournament?

What kind of tree are you looking at putting in? My cherry trees are blooming!

Hi, @lightsplasher !!

Hi @dswigle! Nice to hear from you again and wonderful tree flower photo there.

My arm has been a bit of a chronic issue since it was pulled out of its joint in the days of my youth.
I also experienced some other accidents, most recently when almost face planting in the mud in a tournament a while ago. I'm not great at throwing things overhand as a result and wasn't sure I would be able to play disc golf because of my arm and some other chronic problems. At least things are improving and I think with some careful exercise I should be back to playing disc golf well again.

My next tournament is in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking about dropping it. I've already dropped out of one tournament and have been a bit on the fence about how much I should be playing this season.

I'm thinking about putting in a cherry, pear, or maybe some kind of nut tree. I'm not really sure at this point and it might take too long to clear a spot for it this season.

Hi there! That is a cherry tree!

Wow! You really have been having a time of it. You have always managed to come back from your injuries. Perhaps some Physical Therapy would do you well? It seems to have a positive effect on injured limbs , something to think about. Plus, it may help prevent more injuries in the future by fully healing. If you aren't 100% you are probably asking for trouble. :)

A cherry tree is nice. I have two, but, I also like peaches as they bear fruit after one year. I have 17 pecan and 17 black walnut trees over at my house on the Shore of Virginia. It has 3 acres and plenty of room for the giant nut trees! I have two pear trees there also. I like the pear trees. Plum, apple and pomegranate. Lots of fruit there. One can never have too many fruit and nut trees.

If you cannot clean it out, hire a young man that is looking for some extra $$. I sometimes will do that to expedite things. :)

I hope you are having a great day!

A very cool piece of yesteryear! Just as we've had a day with our 'modern day fridge', I'm thinking the old ones might be better! They made them to last.

Good job with your 5570 @actifit steps for the day. Take care!

This one is a bit older than the ones I remember in the stores as a child. It really doesn't seem that long ago.

Time, and technology seems to be moving faster every day Lol!!😳
I remember when we were not allowed to use a calculator in school, I wonder how many kids can actually do long division Lol!!!

I hope the good things are always with you, and that your arm will recover soon enough to be able to take part in the next few tournaments, I'm sure it will go fast

I have never seen this machine, is it one of those machines for playing music? looks like you saved it really well

This is an old cash register. Merchants used to use them to make transactions at the point of sale. I saw it at a local business as part of a historical display.

it's better for you to rest at home to recover your arm which is still not healed and it's not time for you to play golf yet. That machine looks very unique, is it a typewriter or other digital typewriter because I've never seen this machine...

Merchants used them in stores for taking customers' cash when they sold an item. This type of machine was used circa 1920.
