Eldoret ha quedado atrás.Kenya también. Desde Paris, desde el Aeropuerto de Paris, el team Angelito me envió saludos. A mi, y a todos los que hemos sido cómplices, a través de estas líneas de las aventuras de los nuestros en el hogar de los campeones.

La última fecha la gastaron en la capital del país africano. Acogidos por la embajada cubana en esta nación, los chicos vieron una Kenya diferente; linda, como me diría El White, quien también contó cuánto le encantó comer, al más puro estilo de nuestra tierra.

El adiós es una mezcla de sensaciones. Entre la ilusión de regresar a casa, con los suyos, y el dejar atrás la que probablemente haya sido, y me atrevo a hablar por todos, una de las experiencias más gratificantes de
sus vidas en el deporte, e incluso, un tanto más allá.

"Ha sido una tremenda experiencia, aunque admito que hubiera querido relacionarme más con los kenyanos. Pero estábamos un poco aislados y solo nos veíamos en el entrenamiento. - se sincera Angelito, el Profe, El profeta, el hombre al que apuntan muchas de las mejores historias del fondo y los fondistas cubanos en estos tiempos.

Me hubiera gustado saber más de su vida fuera del entrenamiento, es increíble la humildad de estos seres y su disciplina y entrega. Pero lo más asombroso es la inmensa cantidad de corredores que puedes encontrar aquí.

Creo no equivocarme, son miles. Nuestro último día en Eldoret, el martes 9, trabajamos en la pista Kipchoge y casi era imposible correr. Había no menos de 600 personas trabajando a la vez, a ritmos descomunales. Hombres y mujeres juntos, con distintos niveles de preparación. La verdad cuando ves eso, entiendes que es casi imposible no lograr resultados con esa masividad y con todo lo demás que juega a su favor: altura, genética y que es una de las pocas maneras que tienen de salir adelante.

Para nosotros fue una maravillosa experiencia y ojalá los atletas de nuestra área puedan tener la posibilidad de venir, no es el paraíso pero así se entrenan los grandes atletas de este país y del mundo.

Yo quiero quiero agradecer a la Federación Cubana de Atletismo, a la Comisión Nacional y a todos los que tuvieron que ver con que este viaje se hiciera realidad. También al coach Richard Limo que siempre estuvo al lado de nosotros y junto a sus atletas. El embajador y todos los miembros de la misión diplomática cubana en este país estuvieron siempre a la orden, aún estando lejos nos visitaron en Kaptagat y luego nos acogieron en su residencia. Dicho esto, todo está dicho. Ahora queda esperar por el fruto de esta experiencia y seguir adelante.

Seguir adelante, siempre. Este viaje ha plantado una semilla.

Eldoret Chronicles: The Seed (ES/EN)

Eldoret is behind. Kenya too. From Paris, from the Paris Airport, the Angelito team sent me greetings. To me, and to all of us who have been accomplices, through these lines of the adventures of ours in the home of champions.

The last date was spent in the capital of the African country. Welcomed by the Cuban embassy in this nation, the boys saw a different Kenya; beautiful, as El White would tell me, who also told me how much he loved eating, in the purest style of our land.

Goodbye is a mixture of sensations. Between the illusion of returning home, with your loved ones, and leaving behind what has probably been, and I dare to speak for everyone, one of the most gratifying experiences of
their lives in sport, and even beyond.

It has been a tremendous experience, although I admit that I would have liked to interact more with the Kenyans. But we were a bit isolated and we only saw each other in training.

I would have liked to know more about their life outside of training, the humility of these beings and their discipline and dedication is incredible. But the most amazing thing is the huge number of brokers that you can find here.

I think I'm not mistaken, there are thousands. Our last day in Eldoret, Tuesday the 9th, we worked on the Kipchoge track and it was almost impossible to run. There were no less than 600 people working at the same time, at enormous rates. Men and women together, with different levels of preparation. The truth is when you see that, you understand that it is almost impossible not to achieve results with that massiveness and with everything else that plays in their favor: height, genetics and that it is one of the few ways they have to get ahead.

For us it was a wonderful experience and I hope the athletes from our area can have the chance to come, it is not paradise but that is how the great athletes of this country and the world train.

I want to thank the Cuban Athletics Federation, the National Commission and all those who had to do with making this trip come true. Also to coach Richard Limo who was always by our side and by his athletes. The ambassador and all the members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in this country were always available, even when they were far away they visited us in Kaptagat and later welcomed us at his residence. That being said, everything is said. Now it remains to wait for the fruit of this experience and move on.

Keep going, always. This journey has planted a seed.
