Crossing Taboo Mindset and be Ever Ready to Face The End Journeys

Today there was a really good opportunity to meet up with a childhood friend who I have not seen in person since the pandemic.

She was kind enough to visit me and my family after I finished all my errands and workouts; and we got to understand her newest job and what she has to go through since she is now a single mother.

From our conversations, I have noticed that we always kept telling ourselves to be ready for the worse when we are ill, and that insurance is very crucial just to make sure we are well taken cared off till we get well…

However, have we ever think about what happens after we are expired ?

Who will take care of our belongings, who will settle our expired shell ?

It sounds like a taboo for many people; some even avoid talking about it because we think that this is not right to speak about death all the time.

That being said, have we ever thought whether will we be a financial burden to those around us when we are no longer around?

But we have assurances like Life Insurance right?

Very true. But how many of us actually has that covered, being that we are debt free from other obligations?

I for one certain have a mortgage and a car loan (to the least) to settle, not to mention I have to still take care of my parents.
At least what I am covered will assure that if I expire before my time, my parents still have a roof above their heads, and my nephew at least can take over the filial piety’s role for his grandparents with a transportation that is still new enough to assist him to help whenever there is a need.

Then again

That is not enough to cover what is missing – financial set aside to handle my shell upon my demise.

The interesting part in Malaysia right now is that there IS a SERVICE NEED for such a case, and it is also a huge corporation with financial planning ahead to keep their company afloat in case of downfall

That’s where my childhood friend is currently working

I know for a fact that this is quite a financial issue for modern families these days because my uncle used to be a funeral director until he passed away due to liver and kidney damage. He was a generous man with no wife and children, and he didn’t save much for himself.

Fortunately the Undertaker company he worked for did step in to help; moreover his friend also came with bereavement financial assistance (this is somewhat a Chinese culture adopted in Malaysia since their early migration days a century ago) and our family was less burdened.

But I try not to bring trouble to my own family

Even though I do have my church, my in-Christ faith community that would be able to assist me just how they have stepped in to help when everything was chaotic when my dad fell down and my mom had to undergo medical procedures at the same time while my brother was sick; but that too, may have a limit. There is no 100% guarantee how bad inflation could bring to lives ahead.

At least I do try to think ahead what I want to do next since “acquiring a burial place is like an investment to a private property in Malaysia”.

Maybe it is time to start planning this route early while inflation is yet overboard.

However, that also means that I need to be more active and write again!

Even though I may feel that I am lacking horribly inspirations to write some times.

Good thing there is #HIVE. It is still running strong since I knew about this awesome community 5 years ago.

That, is definitely something worth thanksgiving!

not to mention staying healthy along the way!
