Visiting Holla Holla for the first time, rediscovering sourdough, through a divine appointment!

You just can't deny it... Christmas month is always a month of extra miracles!

And God always provide what is needed (first) and not what is wanted (least priority)

This has to go WAY back during lockdown era when I tried best to make eating habits better especially when my mom kept getting gastic; and one of them was trying to at least learn making sour dough based bread or pancake to introduce good bacteria to her well damaged gut due to much medicine intake.

After finding out she actually had h-pyloric infection and we started treating on that, we spent tons of probiotic supplements to help her gut getting back on track.

However due to financial constrains , sustaining high-priced supplement is huge challenge, and mom was back into the brink of defeat mode and indulging back into cheap pharmaceutical medication because "provision is not enough".

But God still has a plan for her

Recently during one of the hospital runs, she met a brother in Christ who had left eye blind and right eye of 40% vision, while waiting for her post-surgery follow-up, and they started talking about their own merciful journeys with Aba Father in Heaven.

He was very determined to share with her the "proper holistic way" for her eating habits as he came from a background when he abused his body with unkept diet discipline and over indulgences, resulting him having chronic diabetes that led him to his blindness.

After much discussion, we agreed to visit a place of this brother's favourite bakery and dining niche joint with his wife.

This place has its own miraculous journey of its own. Opened right before the lockdown , it managed to survive through the years and now still standing, booming with business

Brightly lit and simple furnishings, as minimalist as it can be, this place was buzzling with meals served and the fragrance of fresh baked loaves of sourdough.

Their signature toast, egg and avocado came with a surprisingly huge portion, enough for 4 adults to have while chatting.
Of course, the price isn't the cheapest (for me) but when it is shared, it is actually decently priced, especially for small eaters.

Due to the fact that mom was still barred from eggs (advised by the head surgeon ophthalmologist), we ordered an extra cheese end chicken sandwich.

Good thing that they are very nice and helped cut into 4 portions for us.

We get to meet the owner of the shop, Terence, who was very friendly and gracious to share his advice with me when I shared my struggles of keeping my starter alive in a tropical hot and humid environment.

His encouragement for me to try again is greatly appreciated; but I think I won't do the wild yeast sour dough, rather trying again for wild yeast pancake when I reshuffle my work-rest routine.

His journey from classical musician to Baker and owner is definitely another story to tell!

Hopefully next time there's another opportunity to visit this place again with less crowd and he can share more.

by the way! Do look out for the San box by Astro! You might see this familiar face appearing there!

My mom was very blessed to had a walk through by her new friend on how to have a sour dough slice CORRECTLY, especially when she had very sensitive and inflammatory stomach all these years, with this entrée Sourdough with French butter (MYR13 / ~ USD $2.90)... and the secret is actually very simple:

back to school basics: learning "startch" through holding a small bite size piece in the mouth and letting the saliva work through the sour dough, before chewing and swallowing

Another important factor is, learn to eat slowly with small bites.

And surprisingly, after the meal we had, my mom didn't have any gastric attack or bloatedness throughout the day.

We were also very blessed with a full loaf of sourdough that could last mom more than a week, and that definitely is an early Christmas gift from Aba Father, our Provider, through this brother in Christ and his wife.

Thank you, brother Bryan and sister Natalie!

We were very blessed that God created a divine appointment for mom to hear from another person (other than me) about holistic dietary habits, and while at it, I too learned much from them and from the owner of the shop too.

Definitely need to save aside and visit this place again with dad and my brother (after he recovers from covid 🙏🏼 )

Until Then

Stay healthy, stay curious and learn new things, and stay happy!
