Helping Out Daily Bread Food Bank when Manpower is Lower than usual
It was one of the challenging months and the beginning of the year for the food bank.
Even as economy is struggling and slowly returning standing on its two feet, things aren't as great still.
The Food Bank's director had to attend a crucial meeting for the annual financial crutiny audit check and wasn't able to be there, and also due to the Lunar New Year closing in there weren't many volunteers available.
Nevertheless, setting aside time to lend an extra pair of hands to the food bank was a privilege not to be missed.
It had always been an honour to help out whenever time allows me to do so.
Looking at the financial situation, it was quite shocking to see there are more and more families that need help.
The inflation has gone up much worse of late, and the Tamil speaking families are really struggling to put food on the table.
over 200 regular families that need help at a time isn't a norm, actually.
Further more, because of Lunar festive, each pack can weigh up to 5kg.
Imagine lunging more than 200 packs on an average of 5kg each...
That's a gym day's workout!
But everyone, though low in number if hands, pushed through for 4 hours before we crash it and call it a day...
We really thank God that food was provided for us, as many of us who are seniors will be too exhausted to go out and search for food by then.

Looking at their quiet faces and barely able to joke around truly spells out how tired we were. 😵💫
