He was born here ! [ENG-ESP] Hospital Interzonal de Agudos Evita - Nació acá !

Good morning Pinmapple friends, how are you doing? I hope everyone is having a great midweek! Today, since I'm more stable, I'm here to tell you what I discovered when I moved back to my new house.

I moved very, very recently, and coming from Zona Norte, I am now in Zona Sur. Buenos Aires is quite a big place, for those who don't know it, and you may have two hours or more of travel between one location and the other.Among my walks to recognize the new neighborhood, and although I already knew some of it, it is just huge and deserves a greater recognition, I found a jewel to show you just around the corner!

It is exactly around the corner, on the street renamed Maradona, the Hospital de Agudos Evita, where Diego Armando was born on Sunday, October 30, 1960.

Although he is known as "El Pelusa de Villa Fiorito" because that is where his family was based, the eldest was born in Lanús Oeste. It is said that his mother had left at 5:30 in the morning, entering the hospital at almost 6 a.m. and giving birth after 7 a.m., Doña Tota gave birth to her fifth child, Diego Armando, the first boy.

The hospital was built on what used to be some old soccer fields (maybe magic? maybe a message from the universe?) and was inaugurated a few days after the death of Eva Perón. Surely it has had major renovations, but at the time of its creation the country had a very big momentum, it was the 50's, where they equated size, service and infrastructure to the great hospitals of Europe, if I understood its history correctly. And in that framework, founded and inaugurated with all the letters.

peron llorando.png

Digging into its history, I found this statement by Perón:

"May everything that takes place within the walls of this building have two forces that move it: love and science, which together make the people great and happy." (1952)

Information obtained from this link called The day Perón cried in Lanús

Besides being very close to the place, I discovered to my surprise the giant mural of Diego Maradona. I am surprised to think that a child is born, and some time later his life becomes a national icon, thus exporting all its idiosyncrasy. Maradona returns one day, unannounced, to visit and get to know the place. A doctor takes him to the fourth floor, the neonatology ward, and Diego hands out balls unselfishly, as a unique gesture of his visit and recognition to the place that saw him arrive.

How can you not get excited when you find something like this? I even see painted balls, and although I did not enter to take pictures, because I maintain a huge respect for the sick people who are here, it is to keep in mind that it is an acute hospital, for example, I had a friend hospitalized here after an accident, inside there are more monoliths and iconic spaces of Diego, a world cup, and more murals of D10S.

There are currently waterproofing works and reforms, and this photo that I leave you here was obtained here where you can also see all kinds of activities, whether medical, refurbishment, or vaccination campaigns.

I hope this little post is meaningful for those who read it too, I let myself be surprised by the details, and this one in particular, I thought it was worth to be shown. Our soccer great was born just around the corner from my house. I've been breathing soccer since I heard about it, and besides, it's a neighborhood full of fields and kids learning to play ball. It fills me with life to find new things to show.

I send you a goal hug !

The place you are visiting has a long, extraordinary history, especially the hospital which was built on the land of a former football field. It's a very enjoyable trip

Absolutely, places with history are my favourite! Besides, Maradona was born here, it's iconic that it was a football field before being a hospital. Thanks for stopping by, I send you a hug
