Drybone Raider: One Card Packed With Offensive Power!

avatar

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

The Outsider ruleset is fast becoming one of my favorites. It has breathe new life in my Chaos Legion cards that I have left. I now regret selling my Djinn Oshannus and other cards that would have rocked today's meta in Modern mode. Luckily, I still have my legendary Drybone Raider. It's probably one of the cards built for pure offensive power. In today's post, we'll go through her lore, stats and abilities and show a sample battle where it effectively combos with another card.

Lore

From the Splinterlands lore on Drybone Raiders:

The Drybone Raiders are part of a tribalistic and fractious collective of anarchists led by the llamataur warlord, Eternan Brune. They control the Drybone Badlands in the Wild Northeast of Praetoria and often conduct predatory incursions into neighboring lands, attacking settlements for loot, plunder, and fun.

Drybone Raiders generally armor themselves in primitive furs and leathers, wield all manner of swords and spears, and sometimes ride large, beast-drawn war machines into combat. They are known to create warpaint from dyes and the bones of their enemies. While undisciplined and disorderly, they are feared throughout the Drybone Badlands and its outlying areas for their ferociousness and tenacity.

Stats and Abilities

The Drybone Raider is a legendary neutral card that is packed with offensive power. At maxed level, it deals dual damage of two range and three melee. It's a bit slow with only two speed but it also has decent defensive stats with three armor and eight health. It has only three abilities but they are all geared toward offense. The deadliest is her Dual Strike ability which makes her attack four times per round. She also has Shatter that removes her target's armor. Finally, she has Cripple that decreases her target's max health with each strike.

Too bad my Drybone Raider is only at level one but she is already deadly at that level. I would have wanted her at level two where she gains one more range attack and the Shatter ability but I didn't get any copies before the rewards were changed.

Combos and Rulesets

Ideally, the Drybone Raider should play in the back because she doesn't have defensive abilities of a tank. Also, her range attack will be useless in the first position. She would thrive in rulesets that allow melee attacks from afar like Equal Opportunity or Super Sneak. This would allow her to attack four times in a round. She can combo with cards that have the Flank ability which would grant her Reach. Then she could be placed in second position to do her job.

Featured Battle

The featured battle was from one of my own. I chose my favorite Earth splinter with the elf archon that grants Execute ability to elves. I had the Doomshield Warden in first position. He has the Flank ability that grants Reach to the second position unit. This is where I put my Drybone Raider to take advantage of the Reach ability. From this position, she can attack four times in round with her dual attack and Double Strike ability. In third, I had the giant Forlorn Geomant. In fourth, I had the Foundation card Sorrow Harvester who decreases the enemy's life by one. In fifth I had the Ujurak Elder who buffs my team with an additional health stat.

The enemy had a higher level archon but his units and positioning were not that good and put him at a disadvantage inspite of his archon's level. My team defeated his tank and Taunt unit and soon his damage dealers were exposed to attack and got defeated.
