Hello Henthusiast Haven Community! πŸ€— I hope you guys are doing good and great. If you guys haven't known yet, I am @lolxsbudoy, founder and member of HHGuild, a gamer, blogger, and curator. And I am from the Philippines. πŸ’™

I will be creating a series of Guides primarily targeting my friends, family, and community which I am inviting to join the great WEB3 Social Media Platform, Hive. I would also love to hear your feedback, suggestion, and other ways to improve these guides, so that I can encourage them to join the Hive Blockchain.

I have already created the following Guides, check it out if you haven't done so:

PART 1 - Hive Onboarding Guide: Free Account Creation Using Hiveonboard πŸš€

PART 2 - Hive Onboarding Guide: Store Your Hive Account Keys on Hive Keychain and Easily Access Hive dApps πŸš€

PART 3 - Hive Onboarding Guide: Create Your First Post Using Peakd - Part 3

PART 3

Create Your First Post Using Peakd

There are many frontends you can use to create and publish a post, we have hive.blog, peakd.com, ecency.com to name a few. but the common thing among them is that they are connected to the Hive Blockchain. This means that whatever you post on the frontend A, it will show up in the frontend B, unless stated or programmed not to.

In this Guide, we are going to use Peakd to start our Hive Blogging Journey. But before we start, I hope you had read my first two guides prior to this because we are going to log in with your Hive Account on Peakd through the Hive Keychain App/Extension. Once you are ready, let us proceed.

Step 1. Go to peakd.com.

On Desktop Browser

Step 2. Login your Hive Account.

On Desktop Browser

Notice that there is a Login Button in the Top Right Corner, Hit that up, and a pop up screen will appear and input your username in the Hive Keychain Box, and then click the button on the right side to login. Confirm the transaction.

Step 3. Update Profile

Before we start to post right away, I highly recommend you to update your profile information. This is how you can update your profile.

On Desktop Browser

Click your Account which can be found in the Top Right Corner. Hit your Profile, then you will be redirected to your Personal Blog Page. Notice the My Blog, it has a drop down, where you can choose on where you can post. It could be in your own blog, or inside a community you joined or combining both. This time, I am going to post in the Henthusiast Haven Community, and enabling it to be posted as well on my blog.

Next things is the body of your blog. This is where you are going to showcase, explain, and also enjoy talking (in writing) your ideas to everyone who reads and will read your post.

To have your post be even more attractive and creative, include pictures, videos, emojis, and such. Markdowns would also help you create dazzling posts. Check this post for a better understanding on Markdowns created by @carrieallen.

Step 4. Topics-Tags and Advanced Options

Once you are done with your post, let's proceed to input some Topics-Tags and also edit out some Advanced Options.

In this post, I used these tags. But of course, don't just blindly use these tags as some are connected to a community with only allowed specific topics to use on that tag. However, I recommend you to always use #hhguild in your post as any topics is allowed for its tag and you'll also be able to earn HH Tokens (2nd Layer Token) in your post with this tag.

image.png

In the Advanced Options, you can edit out the Author who wrote the post (if this account has multiple writers). Rewards Distribution is somewhat like a payment method of your Author Rewards, and you have five choices. 50% HBD and 50% HP, 100% HP, Use reward.app (100% liquid Hive), Burn (burning the rewards), Donate to Hive Fund, Decline (You won't Receive any Payouts). Beneficiaries are those accounts who you want to have a share on the Post Payout, if you have no beneficiary on the post, leave it empty.

image.png

image.png

I forgot if I have already explained it but here you go, every post here on Hive has 7 days Payout window. Which means that after 7 days, you won't be able to receive rewards from your post from any upvotes. 50% of the Total Rewards you Receive will be going to the Curators (Accounts that upvoted your Post), and the other half will be yours as Author Rewards. In the post, Hive Onboarding Guide Part 1, I have received a total of $0.376, 50% of which is mine at $0.192. I clicked the 50% HBD and 50% HP as my rewards distribution so I received 0.096 HBD and 0.330 HP.πŸŽ‰

image.png

image.png

The next options in line is the Show in Portfolio which would include the first image in the Portfolio page of your profile. Countdown Timer will display a visual countdown timer inside your post, this is very helpful tool especially if you are running a giveaway or challenge and others. Convert your post into a "Collection of Posts", this one, just ignore it, I don't recommend this for beginners and for others who don't understand using this feature. The last option we have is Cover Image which you can select the thumbnail image for this post. By default the first image will be used.

image.png

Step 5. Publish Post

Before you publish your post, please double check everything, from your Title, Body, and Topics/Advanced Options. Proper grammar and structure of sentences/paragraphs is also very much appreciated for readers to easily understand your post. It would also be great when you use your Mother Language i.e Spanish, Bisaya, Filipino, and others, you have also am English translation beside it.

Spamming, is not a good practice here and you might see people downvoting your posts, which would result to negative or no rewards at all. Avoid publishing plagiarized posts, so include sources where you got something not yours. Don't use AI to write your post, don't be lazy and shy away man, express yourself and not the robot. 😁 There are more Hive Etiquettes but for me these are the important ones.

NOW, CLICK THE PUBLISH BUTTON!

Confirm the transaction afterwards, and you should have successfully posted your first post on Hive. πŸ‘ πŸŽ‰
