Hello USA First 10k Step Walk in the Land of Opportunity.
There is no better way to beat jet lag and explore a new country than by putting on your sneakers and hitting the pavement. Today, Monday, May 4, 2026, was my first full day in the United States, and I am thrilled to report that I smashed my goal by reaching 10,352 steps!

Exploring the American Suburbs
Walking through an American neighborhood for the first time feels like stepping onto a movie set. The wide, clean sidewalks, the perfectly manicured green lawns, and the iconic architecture of the houses are so different from what I’m used to in Europe. I took a stroll during the afternoon when the sun was high and the sky was a brilliant blue.
One thing that immediately caught my eye was the "car culture" here. I couldn't help but snap a photo of the quiet street, featuring a stunning blue muscle car parked in a driveway a true symbol of the American spirit. The neighborhood felt peaceful and welcoming, providing the perfect environment for a long, steady walk to get my heart rate up and clear my mind after yesterday's long flight.

It wasn't always easy, especially when the afternoon "slump" hit, but the fresh air and the novelty of my surroundings kept me going.
The "Manage Workouts" feature in the app is going to be my best friend this week as I try to maintain a routine while traveling. I’m curious to see how my step counts will vary as I move from these quiet residential areas into more bustling urban centers.

Today was a reminder that movement is universal. Whether you are walking through a historic park in the UK or a sunny suburban street in the US, the benefits for your health and mood remain the same. I feel energized, accomplished, and ready to see what the rest of this trip has in store for me.
