Un grupo de jugadores de la categoría Sub-17 de Venezuela duró días a la incertidumbre de quién sería el entrenador encargado de tomar el cargo de DT para afrontar este Sudamericano Sub-17 en busca de un cupo al Mundial de la categoría juvenil, futbolistas que apenas están iniciando su carrera cómo futbolistas deben conocer la realidad del fútbol venezolano desde muy jóvenes, todas las irregularidades que deben aceptar y seguir adelante para hacer el intento de representar el país lo mejor posible en un torneo CONMEBOL. Venezuela cayó 4 goles por 2 ante el combinado de Argentina, pocos días tuvo el anunciado entrenador argentino Ricardo Valiño para hacerse cargo de este grupo de jugadores, con poco tiempo de trabajo se encaró el primer choque de este Sudamericano, tendiendo como resultado un marcador inverso para los criollos.
