[SPA-ENG] Un accidente me cambi√≥ la vidaūü¶∂ - A life-changing accident ūü¶∂

Hoy me siento incre√≠ble.

Today I feel amazing. 5 months ago, two days before moving to a new city to start a new life, I had an accident which left me with a fracture in 5 part of my left toe, sometimes we don't give importance to the smallest parts of our body, but that fracture left me unable to walk for several months, it was very painful, I couldn't shin my foot. Originally I thought I would have to wear a cast, but when they did the x-rays, they realized that a cast would not be enough to hold all the pieces of bone. They had to operate and put a steel plate in.

I hate surgeries, blood and all that kind of things, they give me anxiety, I was worried because I am a high performance athlete and not being able to train would make me lower the level I had obtained with much effort and perseverance, but I talked to myself and I came to the conclusion that everything happens for a greater cause, if I could not move and if I could not participate in the competition for which I had been preparing for months is because it was not my destiny.

The situation in my country is quite difficult and surgical interventions are very expensive if you don't have medical insurance, at the beginning of my accident I was not very aware of this because I had always had medical insurance as the daughter of a worker but then we realized that this insurance only covered people up to 25 years of age and I was 26. This was quite uncomfortable to process because I had never faced anything like this before, we went to a clinic to ask for a quote for my operation and it was kind of sad when they gave it to us, it was 3,500 dollars. How can something so small affect you so much? It was only a finger and it cost too much for the operation, I had absolutely no money in my savings since I had invested it all in my move, even days before I had closed my business.

During my forties I had learned a lot about myself and I had to face several situations that helped me to have more mental strength so, although this situation was quite strong I had to cope with it in the best way, there was nothing to gain by burdening myself, the worries would not help me to solve. I will not deny that the uncertainty was quite uncomfortable, but I had to keep myself stable so as not to worry my family any more. I was for 3 months with the fracture asking God to help me because I really did not have the financial capacity at that time to get the money, I could not walk, I moved with the help of a walker, I liked this because I could continue training my arms, I even used the walker on several occasions to make funds to train my arms and back haha

I had to force myself to see the positive side of the situation, but mostly because I was tired of always seeing the negative side of everything. Thanks to this I started to serve in a children's dining room where about 1,000 children in vulnerable situations in Venezuela are served weekly, despite the circumstances I did not stop serving a single day and I focused on helping even more. There were days when I was not so strong and I do not blame myself because I am human, but thanks to this I got closer to God, I prayed, I connected with his love and his presence. Just the day I decided to let go of everything, put aside all my plans and give God the direction of my life, I received a call from a doctor I met through the church where I volunteer, the doctor offered me a place to have surgery at less than half the cost they had given me at the clinic. I really could not believe it, all this time the only thing I had to do was to trust in God and stop forcing things, he knows what is best for us and it was not my destiny to move, my destiny was to be part of the children's foundation and support them to grow even more, I started an invitational program where I invited public figures of the city and thanks to this great donations were collected and we received the support of many people, which helped us to go from serving 200 children to almost 1,000 children. It's been a month since my operation and not a day has gone by that I don't feel immensely grateful.

Today I received therapy for the first time to recover the mobility of my toe and foot and the physiatrist was surprised by the way it has healed, she told me that I have excellent mobility, which she finds impressive, and that I only need to recover a little strength in the area, He sent me several strengthening exercises but the most important thing is that he told me that if I comply with constancy training, after a month and I can start with gentle jogging, that filled me with full joy and of course thanks to who never abandons us, our dear friend God.

As soon as the physiatrist left I ran excited to write this post, there is nothing that weighs more than our own negative thoughts, once you open your mind and your heart to all the good things you deserve you realize that life is always generous, whether good things or bad things that happen to us will be the best for us, we must only learn to transform it into something positive, I want to run! But always hand in hand with God. I send you a hug, thank you for reading a little about my happiness.
