My Actifit & Clean Planet Journal: Sep 16 2023
Heya Hiva,
Ready or not.. here I come!
Feeling motivated to make a difference in my less immediate surroundings, I decided today to once again venture out to one of my favourite local spots - a beautiful pond up the road. This time, however.. I would be on a great @actifit & @cleanplanet mission. Plastic bag in hand, my intention being to fight the scourge of litter along the way, whilst getting fit in the process. The Egyptian Geese I saw at the final destination seemed to be very grateful.
I was barely out the gate when I found this little piece of paper caught in some vegetation. It seemed to be a small advertisement for an individual offering services.
Shortly thereafter, I encountered this sharply broken piece of some sort of disposable plastic container - I think.
I was clearly on a roll when I found this plastic tub. At this point, I started to realize just how untidy the the area was. Quite eye opening to be honest.
This next one was really nasty. I don't know what it was, but it looked so gross. Right about this time, I thought to myself that I came underprepared! To tackle this level of filth, one really needs gloves. That being said, I wasn't going to leave it behind, and bagged it with the rest. I know that I pulled a face of disgust as I did.
I felt quite relieved when I found a cable tie after what had just transpired. That being said, it certainly wasn't cool to find it discarded like this either.
Next up was some kind of paper/tissue.. yuck!
Then it was this thing. Don't really know what it is, but it certainly didn't belong here. Sort of reminds me of that clip one uses with hair shears.. not sure though.
When I finally reached the pond, I took in all of the beauty, said "hi" to some guinea fowels, and of course the sweet geese who you've met already. Didn't notice any bin in the immediate vicinity, so took the trash to the one where I stay - safely discarding it. I've learned that there's a war raging on. My work is certainly not done. Happy to say that I met my steps in the process of this particular battle.

Yup, that comb-type thing you found is a guard from an electric hair trimmer. It's kind of amazing, the things you find randomly discarded on the street! Looks like gloves will be a good addition to your arsenal the next time you set out to do some good in your neighborhood. Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks my friend.. yeah - will def have at least 1 glove in my toolkit next time. It's wild what can be found out there. That being said, what I 'found' most interesting.. is that one can use their daily fitness activities to do real good for the world at the same time. Look forward to going more down this road on my Hive journey.
