My Actifit & Clean Planet Journal: Sep 22 2023
Heya Hiva,
Ready or not.. here I come!
I found today's warmer weather stirring up dormant desires, for the fun associated with sunshine. Ah yes.. with Cape Town's summer right around the corner, these geese appear to be unknowingly demonstrating a simple method of cooling down - that is spashing around in the water.
On the way to my feathered friends, I noticed something reflecting light from a distance. Once up the embankment, it quickly became apparent that I had indeed found the first litter of the day.
Upon closer inspection, I concluded that the earlier reflection was as a result of the chocolate wrappers' make up (being that of foil).
A curious observation.. is that sometimes we need to look at things from another angle, to see what may have been missed previously. In this particular instance, I was able to notice some reflective plastic catching the shadows of the grass - which I had to just trapes through.
It was actually the upper portion of a 2 litre soft drink bottle, reminiscent of a funnel.
Reaching the wetlands, I was struck by the overall scenic beauty. How blessed we are to have such blue skies!
The goslings were having an awesome swim. This scene brings back my own past memories of summertime fun.
Turning around, I noticed that someone had left an empty soft drink can, at the foot of the bench. I wondered if this was a genuine accident, or the result of selfish inconsideration? If someone had indeed sat by this bench (whilst taking in this natural beauty).. then why would that individual intentionally litter? I don't get it!
When I turned around, I saw that the geese had come closer to me. They're so cool, aren't they!
Seeking more trash, I was able to find this hard (and sharp) piece of plastic - which I then bagged.
Couldn't resist taking a photo of these pretty flowers. I'm not a botanist by any stretch of the imagination, but I appreciate the beauty of all plants.
While scanning for trash, I noticed a ladybug and tried to get a good picture of it. That was easier said than done haha. The cute little creature seemed shy, crawling onto the opposite side of the strand of grass.
It was during that time, when another local wonder popped into the frame. I regularly see one of these same remarkable marvels, in the yard of where I currently stay.. they're so dope!
These pretty flowers seemed to have popped up between the grass (on the path where I was walking).
Aha.. I spotted something nasty in the distance. It's not as easy as it seems to get to all the trash. The ground is soft, sandy and full of overgrowth. There are ticks, spiders, snakes, and scorpions around these parts. I couldn't leave it though, so braved the very real natural dangers.
When I had it closer in sight, I started day dreaming as to having better tools in the distant future. Would be cool, for example.. to have some sort of grabbing device for these types of difficult recoveries.
For now, an extended arm would have to suffice. Got it! A plastic bag. Happy for any snails to remain behind.
Later on, I recovered a crumpled up piece of paper. I opened it to try and ascertain its origin. It had something like a shopping list or budget on it, together with a child's writing. Ok, so it likely belonged to a family.. but how did it get here?
I did not expect to find a giant energy saving light bulb. I'm really stoked to have removed it in one piece. If a person or animal had to stand on this bare foot, it would have been very scary. This ladies and gents is why I'm out here!
A t-shirt.. I'm running out of things which will surprise me going forward.
A discarded shopping till slip. This kinda gives me a vibe, that it could possibly be from someone who just doesn't care.
Something I need to start speaking about. Without getting into too many specifics, this is a very dangerous place to be (in terms of violent crime). This very real and scary danger means I cannot tackle as much as I would like to. Truthfully speaking, each day I am putting my life at risk by doing this. I do try to be very vigilant, but there are many moments when I get scared.
On that note.. feeling uneasy, I picked up this plastic tub as well, then called it a day.
The rubbish collected was taken to the municipal wheelie bin where I stay. After the photo, I combined the rubbish into another bag, so that I may re-use the carrier again. Another successful day of cleaning the planet, and meeting my steps.
Seeking peace,
ma3str0

How in the capital Fuck did that lamp get there....
Seriously. I'm gonna do one of these real soon. And I'll, in text format, shame all the dirtbags who leave their trash in nature when I do.
Wild hey.. and it was huge as well - probably the largest lightbulb which one I've ever handled. Wonder what's in store for me today.. gonna venture out again in a bit. Thanks @dandays for your dope support.. u're a #rockstar!
You're most welcome. I'm sure I've said it already but just in case, I'm glad you found Hive.
Have you said where you are yet? No worries if you haven't, I fabricate my location regularly, watch...
Cheers from Tel Aviv!
That's really cool of you to say, cheers my friend. Haha, were you really there? ..or is it some sort of backdrop lmao?
I've had a rough few years which culminated in a major emotional breakdown.. as a result thereof, I currently live with my folks again in Fish Hoek (Cape Town, South Africa). Guess I'm really just putting 'one foot in front of the other' - whilst trying to climb out of a really deep hole.
I'm stoked to have found Hive and met some dope peeps along the way (you being one of my awesome friends here). Though, I'm a long way off.. I'm hoping that maybe I can make something sustainable of this adventure. I enjoy writing already, so if I can make something of this blogging adventure, wouldn't that be brilliant.
So where bout you from (unless you prefer anonymity in that regard, which is of course completely understandable)?
That's right, Cape Town, where they say shit like whilst and brilliant. = }
Backdrop.. that's funny. My wife and I travelived (a word I made up) between 2017 and December, last year. One of those 30 day stays was Tel Aviv. Then Brexit, then Covid, now the fuckin war... something always kept kicking us back to the states so we tapped out, "uncle."
I'm from Los Angeles. Currently on the east coast of US, don't plan on going back home for another 5-10 years'ish when I don't feel like doing things like maintaining a yard or watering my trees anymore.
You've gained quite a bit of traction in a real short time. For what it's worth, I didn't begin collecting the number of votes you get regularly until I was here for like a whole year. I didn't see a curation trail for about two years, you saw them your first month.
There's a saying something along the lines of "necessity breeds invention" lol.. I'm grateful for how much progress I've made. I need to make something work mate.. I figure if I put in hard work here (day in and day out), then maybe I can be successful in this space too. It's worth a try.
That being said, one of the other big reasons why I've made reasonable traction thus far, is due to a few kind people I've befriended along the way. I've been blessed, for example, by your kind support and upvotes.
The both of you seem like a cool couple. I'm glad you've got to see such incredible places my friend. There's so much wonder out there. I'm hoping that one day, I can find a quiet piece somewhere. I long for that so much.
Lmao.. I only mentioned a "backdrop" caused you mentioned "fabrication" haha. Los Angeles seems like it could be dope. Well, that's really just based on what I've seen on tv haha. I know there's a risk of earthquakes too, which must be pretty scary. Had to look at a map now to get a better picture of the east coast. Florida seems awesome haha. I'm pretty sure that the whole coastline must be pretty remarkable.
Haha.. not sure if everyone speaks like that down here. I'm originally from Johannesburg (though I can't remember how they spoke down there too haha). Quite some years ago the family moved down to Fish Hoek (where I did my high school years). Fast forward a couple of decades (with a few moves in between), and here I am again now - trying to build my life from scratch at the ripe age of 39. I'm blessed to have become acquainted with some kind peeps along the way (again, you included).
If you check out my recent posts (looking for the mountain in the background).. and then do an internet search for "Peers Cave".. you should recognize it as the same area. There's a fascinating story bout that cave and some ancient remains found a while back.
Man that's cool. You got a real cool story to tell I'm sure.
Ignore the hell out of me if you want, don't even entertain the idea, I won't take it personally, I swear but do you mind if I suggest an addition to your introduction?
What am I doing haha? I spotted some typos in my last reply to you and ended up posting the corrections as a reply (if that makes sense). Anyway, now I am trying to correct that blunder looool.
My life's not that interesting my friend @dandays ..I've just had a lot of emotional trauma along the way. I never made an official "intro" post, as I wouldn't even know where to begin haha. Mind you, if I had to relive that all in a single post, it would probably take its toll on me emotionally.
I am feeling more comfortable sharing with my friends as a go along (even if that is public like these replies to you). If there's anything in specific you'd like to know/suggest, please go ahead my friend.
Typos?? Funny. Nah, not typos. And I didn't notice any if you did. That's funny.
Your intro, where you go..
Just add a little addition there each time, a twist, something someone like me tunes in to it and wonders what you say this time like Ready or not.. here I come from someone's recycling center!
..here I come from a glorious day of picking up after people!
et cetera.
That's actually a very very very very cool idea, which I may see what I can do with! Thanks for the super duper dope idea! You really are a #legend ..I'm getting a better idea of why you are successful. Brilliant!
Nice dude. Glad I didn't offend you. Looking forward to what you do with it.
My good friend.. a great idea is a great idea.. and that was a DOPE idea haha. Besides, you're clearly no fool.. if I could one day emulate a fraction of your success on Hive, I'd be thrilled. Your support (upvotes + everything else) means the world. I'm truly grateful to you - truly! Hope you have a super cool weekend!
