Ready or not, here I come..

-> from being trailed by a set of eyes in the bushes!

Today.. I found myself dressed far too warm for the awesome weather encountered on my Actifit & Clean Planet adventure. Little did I know that this was only the first of more things, which I never saw coming!

When I started the walk to the local pond, I spotted some litter on the opposite sidewalk. Not exactly eye catching, but warranted prompt action nonetheless.

As is often the case.. I spotted something else when attempting the retrieval. Seems like the plastic wrapper used to seal a packet of cigarettes.

Truth be told, I never saw the tumble weed coming! Interestingly though.. there was some plastic caught in it, which I obviously removed. I then went to investigate the other piece of nearby litter.

Turns out that was the plastic packaging from gluten free hot dog rolls.

Thankfully the rest of the journey towards the wetlands was uneventful. On the final approach however, I was greeted by what I suspect to be some kind of fast food wrapper.

Like everyday, I immediately searched for my friends - the geese. Alas, they were no where be seen. I felt a sense of sadness, wondering if they had perhaps moved on. I never saw this coming!

Scanning the pond, yielded no results either. Where were they?

I found some comfort admiring the beauty of the flowers. I noticed that it had started to seed - waiting for the wind to carry them away. Actually, this wasn't making me feel any better! These awesome birds have become such an important part of my life. Where are you my special geese friends?!

Whilst looking for litter, I noticed a man lying in the grass near the wetlands boards. It appears my vigilance paid off. This warranted extra caution. Can you spot him?

Whilst keeping an eye on him, I scoured the territory for trash. It wasn't long before I found something out of place.

Then something more..

More plastic.. can't stand it!

Every now and then, the mystery man would move and I was readying myself to run - should the need arise. This weird piece of trash caught my eye. It was quite heavy, though I haven't a clue what it was.

This rustic path (if one can even call it that) leads deeper into the bush. It's not a route I feel comfortable pursuing, but I thought I'd approach it with the utmost caution (really just scouting more turf at this point).

I thought I could perhaps see some signs of human activity in the bush. You may be able to make out some of what I saw from the photo.

There was a lot of trash the nearer I got. With the man behind me now and whatever this was in front of me, I had to be very quick. I spotted some yellow plastic litter, and decided to go for it!

It was wedged in the vegetation, but I managed to get it!

I tried to bag whatever else was nearby. This was in sight.

And this..

Managed to recover a battery as well.

I was now venturing too far in for my liking.. but you can see some of the trash which was laying around.

I grabbed whatever I could (still trying to keep an eye on my surroundings).

I later discover that there were quite a few ants inside of this piece.

It's always worth finding, then safely discarding broken shards of glass.

I got out of there pretty quickly and made my way back. Great news was that my friends had arrived in time to say hi. I treated then to some healthy seed which I had packed earlier.

Rustling in the bushes caused the geese to quickly retreat to the water. I was being watched! Can you see!

Great news is that it was only a cute dog. What a relief!

Seems to always be one last piece. What a day!

Stoked to be out of potential harms way, I safety disposed of the days haul in the municipal wheelie bin where I stay. After photographing, I combined it with the rubbish already present (so that I could re-use the carrier bag again). Another successful day of getting fit, whilst cleaning the planet!
