My Actifit & Clean Planet Adventure: Oct 12 2023

Ready or not, here I come..

-> from withstanding the heat, after temporarily extending my reach into the proverbial kitchen - sticking around no longer than was necessary. If that doesn't make too much sense, fear not.. a perfectly baked explanation will be revealed in due course.

Adventure afoot!

Sometimes I manage to surprize myself. Today's adventure to the local wetlands bears testament to that very fact!

Starting from the local pond area (on the left hand side).. I strategically worked my way towards the right. The area seemed pretty clean, until I came across a recently dropped large beer bottle (and ear bud as the cherry on the cake). Though that specific spot looked much better upon its removal, something else was hiding nearby.

Somewhat concealed in the vegetation was a recently discarded shirt. I know that it was recently dumped, due to the fact that I had been keeping a close eye here for some time now. It's now become apparent that this part of the wetlands appears to be rather problematic.

Some kind of broken plastic block maybe..

Feeling a bit braver than usual, I quickly moved into some dense bushes. I found a face mask - likely from the pandemic.

This sheet of newspaper must have been from a fairly recent publication, as it didn't seem weathered.

I then proceeded further to the right, reaching the very isolated zone (where I usually turn around). Today, however, I did not. I carefully analyzed my surroundings, and made a conscious decision to extend my reach. While on 'high alert', I managed to recover an empty packet of cookies.

This part was far in, that I found myself continually working out how long it would take to run back out - should the need arise. This clearly was no fun and games! As the temperature around me seemingly rose, I collected whatever rubbish I could. I think this was a piece of a 'pool noodle'.

These pretty flowers are obviously not noticed by many. I recovered a polystyrene takeaway container, returning the scene back to one of untouched beauty.

Making my way back to what now feels like relative safety, I found the top of a spray bottle. Those following my many adventures.. may recall that yesterday, I found an ampty bottle of tanning lotion - which was missing its top. I'm guessing this then belonged to that.

This fine netting is a hazard to small wildlife. Really stoked to have extracted it!

Our colourful problem..

Solution in black & white!

Awesome to see that the local municipal bin was emptied again. That made emptying the trash collected more manageable. I'm feeling satisfied with all progress made so far.

Final thoughts..

Remnants of tanning lotion, baked cookies & fast food reminded me of both heat and cooking. Curiously.. an interesting piece of trash recovered from the outskirts, gave new meaning to the phrase "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". I chose to take a hint from the non stick cooking spray, and not stick around. I got out of that kitchen!
