Ready or not, here I come..

Adventure afoot!

Today saw the South Peninsula (South Africa) battered by another round of tumultuous winds. Its extreme force, certainly made made for a rather entertaining 'Wednesday Walk'.. just ask my hair!

It's wild just how much fast food trash I've found around the local wetlands area thus far. Though there still be many unanswered questions.. I'm so relieved with the certainty of it's removal.

When I saw this large flat box well into the foliage, I had some trepidation with regards to it's retrieval.. and that was beforehand! To get it out, meant I first had to fall into two deep holes - when the hollow ground gave way a couple of times. I'm guessing the moles have a sense of humor.

It made sense to use the opportunity to scout out the same area for anything untoward. This large sheet of weathered paper/card happened to catch my eye.

As we know all too well, the small items are also important. This shard of glass and twisted old wire could have caused a nasty injury.

I've grown a lot more comfortable (though no less vigilant) when exploring new parts. As a result of venturing a bit deeper into the bush, I was able to get to this plastic bottle.

Next up was another.. though this time it was made of glass (remnants of liquor). My carrier was so full and heavy by that point in time.. it was quite a squeeze for it to join the haul.

The plastic sheet recovered from the ground was almost at the point of being swallowed up by the local vegetation. That makes me wonder just how much may secretly be out of view.. how sad! Well at least this piece will not go down that route.

To date, I've found so many empty packets of cigarettes - health warnings ever visible. Perhaps an interesting idea could be to have big warnings on the environmental devastation caused by litter?!

This neck from a broken glass bottle was surely another dangerous hazard to be out there. I guess one less thing to worry about now!

So this plastic packaging appears to have once held drugs! Ok.. the pharmaceutical kind. Either way, it's shouldn't have been here.

The proverbial 'cherry on top of the cake', ensured that I did everything possible in making the cleanup a resounding success!

Nudged along by the gusts of wind.. I took the trash to the municipal bin located near the local park. It's such a joy to see the improvement in the cleanliness of the overall area. What a wonderful day to continue making a difference!
