Back to the trail today with @nomaddreamer and Mia the Wonder Aussie!

Fall is so in-your-face at this point here in the Ozarks. @nomaddreamer and I spent most of our hike today staring up at the different colors of the leaves. The golds, yellows, and reds with the dappled sunlight and the blue of the sky was mesmerizing.

We found an American Persimmon tree today. Apparently there are rules to eating them. Never on an empty stomach, never with a protein, and they must be completely ripe. Otherwise one could end up with a phytobezoar, or a giant mass of indigestible plant material stuck in your gut! (Source: Picture This, a plant ID app)

It sounds like a list of rules from Gremlins, but according to everything I've read about them, they’re painful if eaten wrong thanks to their high tannin content. Reportedly they’re delicious when fully ripe though!

Aren't they gorgeous? The scenery is so pretty right now that I don't even mind the fact that our yard is buried in the remnants of the fall colors!
