Ozark Life Wanderings ~ October 24 2022

It was a cloud-covered day here in the Ozarks.

At first, when we started our hike, the clouds blanketed the sky; just a gray cover.

They started swirling and changing as we were further out on the trail.

We hiked at a fairly quick pace, admiring the changing clouds and the never-ending cascade of leaves in the wind.

We wandered up to the city park from the trail and found tons of yellow Clouded Sulphur butterflies. We’ve seen them before but have never been able to get pics; they flutter in the most frantic of ways and are very fast.

This time we were able to get closer. They’re difficult to capture with their wings open. If they’re landed, their wings are closed and look greenish, not nearly as pretty as the yellow.

Yes, it’s blurry, but you can see the color!

Rain started coming down this evening, finally. We need it so badly. According to my weather app, it’s supposed to continue all night.

Maybe it’ll be enough moisture to bring some interesting fungi up through the mounds of leaves in the forests. Mushrooms do make for more interesting hikes. I had such high hopes for them through the fall, but this drought has stopped any of those hopes so far. 🤞
