My Actifit Report Card: June 18 2025
Hi my loving Actifiters,
How are you guys? I hope you are all doing well with your family and loved ones. About a week ago, yesterday I visited a village in the dry zone with two other friends. About a month ago, these two old friends invited me. I accepted the request and said that if I get a day off in the future, I will definitely join the trip. Accordingly, we were able to achieve our goal more successfully. The goal of our trip was to find peace of mind by adapting to nature. For this, a village about 200 kilometers away from home was chosen to gain an experience about the life of the people there.
*We set off on the Southern Expressway at about three thirty in the morning. We chose the village of Thalawa in the Anuradhapura district as our destination because it is located at a high point in terms of irrigation system. At about ten thirty in the morning, we stopped the vehicle near a small shop in Thalawa village and had breakfast. We ate red rice with fish curry and coconut sambal, which was very tasty because it was prepared in a village. *
The shop owner said that it was safe to park the vehicle, so we took a beautiful walk along the green ground near the tank bank while the sun was shining in the blue sky with white clouds. Since there was no use in walking with shoes on, we took off our shoes and left them in the vehicle. This is because we all know the health benefits of walking barefoot on a green meadow. The cattle raised in the houses and paddies of the village were seen here and there eating the leaves of the tank meadow. Accordingly, one of the livelihoods of the village of Thalawa was the dairy industry through raising cattle. Since it is located in a region around the tank, some people also do freshwater fishing as a livelihood.
Many large trees with austere characteristics typical of the dry zone can be seen growing near the Thalawa lake. Although these trees have grown into giants after being nourished in the lake for a long time, they are still strong and not decaying. My two friends and I were tired after walking for a long time in the hot sun, so we sat down on the ground under the shade of a large tree. The breeze and shade that blew from the lake area to the ground were a great comfort to us.
Yesterday, I was able to walk ten thousand steps through this nature-infused tour. Being able to walk 10,000 steps in a short period of time was also beneficial for my health. While talking to the friendly people of the Thalawa village, I was able to learn about their living conditions, culture, etc.
