Palmer's father was also a footballer. But due to forced retirement and not being able to reach his goal in her career, he started dreaming about his young son. So Palmer's football introduction came from his father. Palmer spent time on the field with his father from a very young age, and spent most of the day playing football in the park next to his house. His mother's contribution to this path is no less. When Palmer's father was busy with business or family affairs, Palmer rushed with her whenever he was called to play football.

Palmer's first club to start his career with school football and not Manchester City. Palmer was one year younger than the other players on the field that day. But because of his football knowledge and skills, he was unique. News of Palmer's footballing prowess quickly reached the ears of Manchester's two clubs, City and United. Although both club academies expressed interest in taking Palmer, Palmer's father chose City Academy for Palmer, considering the huge potential of Man City Academy, and began his Man City career as a player of Man City Under-8 team. After joining Manchester's best academy, he also impressed the academy coaches with his football style. Only at the age of 8 could he do something that his coaches have not seen in 14 year old boys. After a while, his growth problem was hampering. As a child, Palmer had a slightly lower growth rate than normal children. He later came out of this predicament with the help of his parents and the City Academy staff, and now he has a 6 foot 2 inch body.

As he grew up at City Academy, Cole Palmer developed himself. As a result of the regular good performances in the ranks of the citizens, Cole got the responsibility of captaining the under-18 team in the 2019/20 season. And in that season alone, he played a key role in winning the Under-18 Premier League and League Cup, scoring 16 goals and assisting 7 in just 20 matches. The midfielder also won the best player award in both tournaments. As a result, Cole was called up to the Pep Guardiola Man City squad in 2020. Although he was in the squad for 4 important matches of the season, he had to sit on the sidelines.

Due to his tremendous success at the Man City Academy, Palmer became a regular face in the Citizens' ranks as well as in England's ranks. The midfielder has played for England's Under-15, Under-16, 17, 18 teams and is currently playing for the Under-21 team. In the qualifying round of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship for England U-21 team, Palmer has scored 2 goals and provided one assist in 4 matches played so far.
