Ayer, 11 de julio, arrancó la Copa América Femenina 2025, y no saben lo emocionada que estoy. Esta es ya la edición número once de un torneo que reúne a todas las selecciones de la Conmebol, y aunque aún no tiene el peso mediático de la versión masculina, cada vez se consolida más como una verdadera vitrina del talento femenino sudamericano. Desde el 2022, la Conmebol decidió celebrarlo cada dos años, como parte del impulso que, por fin, está recibiendo el fútbol femenino en la región, y hoy quiero echarles el cuento de cómo será esta edición y cómo viene la Vinotinto para la competencia.

La fase de grupos comenzó el 11 de julio y la gran final será el 2 de agosto, así que tenemos tres semanas de pura emoción por delante.
El torneo está organizado en dos grupos de cinco equipos. En el Grupo A compiten Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay y Perú. Mientras tanto, en el Grupo B –donde está nuestra Vinotinto– están Brasil, Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia y Venezuela. Sí, suena fuerte. Y es que ese grupo es literalmente una caldera. Ahora, algo que me pareció muy acertado es que esta edición ya no otorga cupos para el Mundial, como sí lo hacía antes. En lugar de eso, la Conmebol organizará unas eliminatorias sudamericanas específicas para el Mundial Femenino 2027, lo cual me parece un paso adelante hacia una estructura más seria y justa para el crecimiento del fútbol femenino.
Y claro, como si todo eso no fuera suficiente para generar expectativa, esta Copa también viene cargada de emociones fuera del campo. Podría ser la última vez que veamos a la legendaria Marta vistiendo la camiseta de Brasil, y eso ya de por sí le da al torneo un aire nostálgico. Además, está la posible protesta de la selección de Uruguay, que en un acto de valentía colectiva ha alzado la voz exigiendo mejores condiciones laborales para sus jugadoras.
