Impresiones tras la primera doble fecha de la Liga de Naciones Femenina (ESP/ENG)
Termina la primera doble fecha de esta Liga de Naciones Femenina con un balance positivo para la Vinotinto, que se ubica en el cuarto puesto de la tabla (posición de repechaje), con 4 puntos de 6 posibles. Hoy quiero compartir mis impresiones de lo que dejaron estos dos primeros partidos.

La primera fecha se jugó en casa, abriendo las eliminatorias frente a Chile, un rival que —al menos en el papel— parecía muy similar a Venezuela y al que perfectamente podíamos ganarle. Sin embargo, la historia fue otra, y me recordó mucho lo vivido en la Copa América: un equipo con mucha posesión del balón, gran número de pases acertados, presión alta y control territorial, pero con la misma deuda de siempre: la definición. Dominamos gran parte del primer tiempo, generamos más peligro y manejamos el ritmo del juego, pero faltó contundencia para reflejarlo en el marcador.
En el segundo tiempo, Chile tomó un poco más el control, aunque Venezuela nunca desapareció por completo, y los cambios le dieron un nuevo aire al equipo. Este empate me dejó un sabor agridulce: no se perdió en casa, pero quedó la sensación de que éramos superiores y que pudimos ganar ese partido.
The first match was played at home, kicking off the qualifiers against Chile, a rival that—at least on paper—seemed very similar to Venezuela and one we could easily beat. However, the story was different, and it reminded me a lot of what we experienced in the Copa América: a team with a lot of ball possession, a large number of successful passes, high pressure, and territorial control, but with the same old problem: finishing. We dominated much of the first half, created more danger, and controlled the pace of the game, but we lacked the punch to reflect that on the scoreboard.
In the second half, Chile took a little more control, although Venezuela never completely disappeared, and the substitutions gave the team a new lease of life. This draw left me with a bittersweet taste: we didn't lose at home, but I was left with the feeling that we were superior and that we could have won that game.
Había que pasar la página rápido, y el siguiente reto fue Paraguay, ahora como visitantes, después de un maratónico viaje en clase económica y con escalas, algo que siempre pasa factura en el rendimiento físico. No les voy a mentir: por lo ocurrido en la Copa América, este partido me tenía algo preocupada. Pero Ricardo Belli supo hacer los ajustes necesarios y consiguió una victoria muy valiosa en Asunción, en un estadio pesado por la lluvia y ante un equipo de guerreras guaraníes que no dejaron de pelear ni un solo balón.
Se cumplió mi predicción del post anterior: fue un duelo cerrado, intenso y muy táctico, en el que prevaleció la experiencia de jugadoras como Deyna Castellanos y Gabriela García, decisivas para lograr la ventaja. Ambas demostraron jerarquía y liderazgo en momentos clave, marcando la diferencia con su manejo del tiempo y la lectura del partido.
We had to turn the page quickly, and the next challenge was Paraguay, now as visitors, after a marathon trip in economy class with layovers, something that always takes its toll on physical performance. I'm not going to lie to you: because of what happened in the Copa América, I was a little worried about this match. But Ricardo Belli knew how to make the necessary adjustments and secured a very valuable victory in Asunción, in a stadium weighed down by rain and against a team of Guaraní warriors who never stopped fighting for a single ball.
My prediction from the previous post came true: it was a close, intense, and very tactical match, in which the experience of players such as Deyna Castellanos and Gabriela García prevailed, proving decisive in securing the advantage. Both demonstrated their class and leadership at key moments, making the difference with their time management and reading of the game.
En cuanto a la primera alineación, Joemar Guarecuco como “9” dejó mucho que desear en el debut. Tuvo un mano a mano claro con la portera que no supo aprovechar, y se notó falta de ritmo y velocidad para un partido que exigía más explosividad. Por su parte, Mariana Speckmaier estuvo bastante desaparecida durante el encuentro. Es una jugadora con buenas condiciones, pero considero que funciona mejor como revulsiva, entrando en los segundos tiempos, no como titular.
Lo más destacable fueron los cambios. La juvenil Ailing Herrera, recién subida desde la Sub-17, entró sin complejos, encarando, rematando y atreviéndose a hacer lo que otras no se animaban. Junto a ella, Melanie Chirinos también aportó frescura y desequilibrio por las bandas. Ambas cambiaron la dinámica del partido y demostraron que el futuro del fútbol femenino venezolano está en buenas manos. Debo admitir que, aunque me preocupaba la inclusión de tantas juveniles en esta convocatoria, Belli acertó con ellas. Y en mi opinión, Ailing Herrera ya se ganó un puesto como titular en los próximos encuentros.
As for the starting lineup, Joemar Guarecuco as the number 9 left a lot to be desired in his debut. He had a clear one-on-one with the goalkeeper that he failed to capitalize on, and he lacked pace and speed for a game that demanded more explosiveness. Mariana Speckmaier, for her part, was largely invisible during the match. Both changed the dynamic of the game and showed that the future of Venezuelan women's soccer is in good hands. I must admit that, although I was concerned about the inclusion of so many young players in this squad, Belli made the right decision with them. And in my opinion, Ailing Herrera has already earned herself a starting spot in the upcoming matches.
Fue una fecha interesante: se ganó de visitante, que siempre es un plus, y no se perdió en casa. El equipo se mantiene en buena posición dentro del grupo, y lo más importante: se nota un crecimiento en identidad y cohesión. La próxima doble jornada será en noviembre, primero contra Ecuador como visitantes y luego ante Perú en casa.
Si las chicas logran mantener este nivel de compromiso y seguir ajustando en la definición, estoy convencida de que la Vinotinto puede seguir escalando posiciones y soñar con la clasificación. Esta selección se ve unida, intensa y convencida del juego que propone su técnico. Son guerreras, pelean cada balón y transmiten ese espíritu de lucha que tanto nos representa. Por eso, sigo apostando con todo mi corazón a este proceso Belli, porque se nota que hay trabajo, hay proyecto y hay ilusión.
It was an interesting match: they won away, which is always a plus, and didn't lose at home. The team remains in a good position within the group, and most importantly, there is a noticeable growth in identity and cohesion. The next doubleheader will be in November, first against Ecuador away and then against Peru at home.
If the girls manage to maintain this level of commitment and continue to improve their finishing, I am convinced that La Vinotinto can continue to climb the rankings and dream of qualifying. This team looks united, intense, and convinced of the game plan proposed by their coach. They are warriors, they fight for every ball, and they convey that fighting spirit that represents us so well. That is why I continue to bet with all my heart on this Belli process, because you can see that there is work, there is a project, and there is hope.
