Postales y emociones de la escuadra granate de Lanús / Postcards and emotions from Lanús' maroon squad

Uno de esos sueños no cumplidos de mi juventud (y que actualmente ya no es de mi interés hacer realidad) era ser comentarista deportivo. Me encantaba ver los partidos de beisbol y baloncesto profesional de Venezuela, pero también las grandes ligas y la NBA, esos eran los deportes en los cuales deseaba especializarme luego de completar mis estudios universitarios, y de hecho, esta aficción fue el motivo para elegir mi carrera.

Con los años, y las ocupaciones, mis intereses fueron cambiando, pero cada tanto coqueteaba con ese sueño: hice hemerotecas sobre jugadores y equipos a quienes seguía, a veces, me quedaba hasta la madrugada viendo las finales de los juegos de beisbol, o el todos estrellas de las grandes ligas.

Y si me preguntan actualmente, ya hasta olvidé como llevar las estadísticas del desempeño de los jugadores, aunque a los 15 años llevaba inclusive mi cuaderno por años, jugadores y equipos. Pero esa vena siempre ha estado ahí, y al menor contacto se activa, como cuando me tocó asumir la cátedra de periodismo deportivo en la Universidad Fermín Toro.

Para entonces, una de las cosas que les recalcaba a mis estudiantes, era la importancia de captar el movimiento en una toma estática, concepto que para ellos al principio era inconcebible, pero luego de muchas prácticas lograban resultados geniales.

Así que al entrar a la parte de la exposición dedicada a los reporteros gráficos que cubren el área deportiva del club atlético Lanús, que está actualmente en el centro cultural Leonardo Fabio, en la provincia de Lanús, fue muy grato volver a experimentar en parte esa emoción que sentía en mis años de adolescente, y también al ver cómo evolucionaban mis estudiantes de periodismo deportivo.

Poder ver en primera persona, parte de la hemeroteca que tienen sobre el equipo y la historia de la oncena desde los tiempos de Evita, fue además de recreativo, una experiencia bastante informativa. En las gráficas no solo de los juegos, sino también los rostros de los fanáticos, los sentimientos que generan en ellos algunas jugadas, o los eventos paralelos de los clubes que ofrecen información adicional sobre las acciones fuera de las canchas, ya que las organizaciones deportivas no solo son juegos, sino que hay un trabajo social que muy pocas veces se conoce masivamente.

En la exposición podemos ver algunas muestras de Juan Manuel Paciok y de Tatiana Fantoma que datan de entre 2013 y 2021, que recrean momentos y espacios emotivos de los muchos que se viven antes, durante o después de cada encuentro.

De entre todas las fotos, hubo dos que me encantaron: la primera es la de un señor mayor que muestra su carnet de larga data, siendo orgullosamente fanático vitalicio del equipo, y la otra fue la de una niña con discapacidad motora en una maratón organizada por el complejo educativo asociado al club atlético de Lanús, en la cual podemos ver la inclusión presente en las actividades comunitarias de la organización.

Y aunque la oncena granate no es de las mayormente conocidas, como se trata de Boca Junior o River Plate, ciertamente tiene la capacidad de mover emociones y de generar recuerdos no solo dentro sino fuera de las canchas.

One of those unfulfilled dreams from my youth (and one that I am no longer interested in pursuing) was to be a sports commentator. I loved watching professional baseball and basketball games in Venezuela, but also the major leagues and the NBA. Those were the sports I wanted to specialize in after completing my university studies, and in fact, this hobby was the reason I chose my career.

Over the years, and with other commitments, my interests changed, but every now and then I would flirt with that dream: I kept newspaper archives on the players and teams I followed, sometimes staying up until dawn watching the baseball finals or the Major League All-Star Game.

And if you ask me now, I've even forgotten how to keep track of player performance statistics, even though at age 15 I kept a notebook for years, players, and teams. But that streak has always been there, and at the slightest touch it is activated, as when I took on the chair of sports journalism at Fermín Toro University.

At that time, one of the things I emphasized to my students was the importance of capturing movement in a static shot, a concept that was inconceivable to them at first, but after much practice, they achieved great results.

So, when I entered the part of the exhibition dedicated to the photojournalists who cover the sports section of the Lanús Athletic Club, which is currently at the Leonardo Fabio Cultural Center in the province of Lanús, it was very gratifying to relive some of that excitement I felt in my teenage years, and also to see how my sports journalism students had evolved.

Being able to see firsthand part of the newspaper archive they have on the team and the history of the club since the time of Evita was not only entertaining but also quite informative. The graphics show not only the games, but also the faces of the fans, the feelings that certain plays generate in them, and the parallel events of the clubs that offer additional information about the actions off the field, since sports organizations are not only about games, but also about social work that is rarely known to the general public.

In the exhibition, we can see some samples by Juan Manuel Paciok and Tatiana Fantoma dating from 2013 to 2021, which recreate emotional moments and spaces from the many that are experienced before, during, or after each match.

Among all the photos, there were two that I loved: the first is of an elderly man showing his long-standing membership card, proudly a lifelong fan of the team, and the other was of a girl with a motor disability in a marathon organized by the educational complex associated with the Lanús athletic club, in which we can see the inclusion present in the organization's community activities.

And although the maroon team is not as well known as Boca Junior or River Plate, it certainly has the ability to stir emotions and create memories both on and off the field.
