I have decided to get my youngest son to spend less time in front of screens, which he does because his mother is almost always away from home, working to support us.

I have now negotiated to work fewer hours so that I can spend more time with him, even though that also means earning less money and always being short on expenses.

But no one said it would be easy. It was either that or have an alienated child who would grow up to be a person without judgment.

So, after school, we came home to drop off his backpack and walked about eight blocks to the nearest park. There he was able to enjoy the outdoors for a while, play some games, and then we went to the exercise area. In total, we spent an hour in the park, then returned home with renewed energy.

Of course, we slept more than relaxed, so today's plan will be to go again, taking advantage of the perfect weather for going out.

Guerra a las pantallas

Me he propuesto lograr que mi hijo menor le baje el tiempo de consumo de cosas a través de una pantalla, a la cual llegó porque mamá está casi siempre fuera de casa, trabajando para mantenernos.

Ahora negocié trabajar menos horas, para pasarlo con él, aunque eso implica también ganar menos dinero y estar corta siempre con los gastos, pero nadie decía que sería fácil, era eso, o tener a un niño alienado que se convirtiera en un ser sin juicio a futuro.

Así que luego de la escuela, vinimos a casa a dejar su mochila y caminamos unas 8 cuadras para llegar al parque más cercano. Ahí pudo disfrutar un buen rato del aire libre, de algunos juegos y luego nos fuimos al área de hacer ejercicios.

En total, estuvimos una hora en el parque, para luego volver a casa con una energía renovada.

Por supuesto, dormimos más que relajados, por lo que el plan de hoy será ir otra vez, aprovechando que el clima está perfecto para salir.
