Hello fellow hivers🙂. I've been away for way too long, but I'm back and hope to stay for a while by God's grace.

Football is a game of love that brings people together but, Racism has sadly been a reoccurring issue in football, and as much as it has plagued the game, one will think measures has been made and a lot put in place to combat and eradicate this sickening issue, but it seems like not enough has been and is being done to protect players from being dehumanised by racists.

We all can recall one of or if not the most famous racists rants and chants made towards Mario Balotelli in Naples by his own country men. He was dehumanised and greatly abused by fans in the stadium, and sadly nothing was done to help protect him, Instead he was just subbed off by the coach. Even after that sickening event in Naples, many more players have been subjected to racist attacks on the field of play.

Newly on the list of racists football fans was Real Madrid's Vini Jnr. He was racially abused by the fans of Valencia, who made monkey impressions towards Vini and also shouted out different racists slurs towards him. The referee who Vini had laid complain before concerning the racists slurs he was getting from the fans of Valencia, didn't seen to care much about the happenings, and when Vini tried to stand up for himself he was then issued a red card by the referee.
The referee could and should have help protect him but he couldn't care less, maybe because he wasn't well educated on what to do in such situations or maybe he didn't see it as a big issue.

This is just one of many events were referees couldn't do the needful in other to protect players, and reduce the tension by stopping or ending the game.
Football officials should be taught on how to handle issues like this, and players who are victims should not be treated like villains.

I believe the issue of racism have been a reoccurring issue in football because a lot is not being done to punish offenders, because if much is being done I doubt fans will have the confidence to racially abuse players, cus they know they are strong penalties for those who exhibit such inhuman behaviour.
Hate speech is a criminal offence, and those who commits such should be arrested by the authorities and should face the full wrath of the law. There are a lot of cameras in the stadium so it will be ridiculous of it is said that the offenders could not be identified.
Well, the high spanish officials of the Spanish Laliga have, sacked the referees and have also identified some of the fans who were involved in the racists act committed against Vini.

It's not a lot, concerning how long this issue has being a plague to the game, more should continue to be done to help protect players and also help eradicate racism from the field of play. I think racism is the last thing I want to see when a put on my tv to relax and enjoy a beautiful game of football.

It is not impossible to eradicate racism from football.
