I'm back running!... Maybe...

@manuvert just finished a 5.10km run, that lasted for 28:19 minutes.
This run helped manuvert burn 476.0 calories.

Over many years of being a lazy casual athlete, I noticed one thing: resuming biking after a long break is quite easy (even after a year without a single ride, I can pick up my old and heavy mountain bike, go for 50+km and the only part of my body that will actually be sore will be my butt!), but it's usually a whole different story for running. And being in my late 40s, overweight (hoping to drop at least 20 pounds in the next 6 months), and never warming up/cooling down, make it even more challenging. So today, considering my last run was about 4 months ago for the Joshua Tree Half Marathon, I had very low expectations. But for some reason I was motivated, I had thought about a run for a few days, and Saturday was the day! We first went for a long walk with the dog in the afternoon, the weather was sunny. But of course, as soon as I geared up for my run, a mix of rain, sleet and snow started falling, slowly at first. No, it didn't break my motivation! Well, by the time I finished my short run, it was a full-on snow storm, with the snow sticking on the ground, even though it was in the mid-50s F (~13C) the day before. Proof on the cover photo with the backyard when I made it back home! I love snow, but while running, it's not ideal.
)Anyways, how was the run? Surprisingly not too bad, all things considered. Obviously short and a bit slow, but I thought it'd be worse. Also, the only long running pants I found at home were the ones with resistance bands. It sounds silly but it does add some resistance, and I'm sure I will feel it in my thighs and hips. Most stats weren't particularly impressive of course, and without surprise, except maybe my heart rate. I tend to run quite high, above 170bpm for sure, always in zone 5. This time, my average was around 146bpm and I never went above 165bpm. It also took 6 or 7 minutes to reach the mostly flat part. Quite strange compared to my usual. Maybe the cold weather outside messed up with the measurements, because I've seen similar trend in cold weather long time ago.
Well, now let's see if I can go for another run soon. Goal is Monday, but maybe I should be realistic and if I can get another run in within the week, that would be fine I guess. Better than 4 months...
