10k Evening Run

I just finished a 10.231km running that lasted about 0hh:46mm:33ss !

Finally, I managed to run after only one rest day. That's my goal: to run at least every other day, and hopefully ride my bike sometimes in between running sessions. At least for the next month or so. At that point, I'll have to decide if I run the Detroit half marathon or not. Actually, I probably need to decide soon, before they close the registrations.
Back to today's run, even though I felt kind of heavy again when I started, it improved along the way, and when I saw I was doing fine after 4 miles, I decided I would go for 10k, as it's been a while that I hadn't reached this distance. And it's clear I had a second wind around that time, as I started to speed up to get my faster split on the last mile. Overall, the 7:19 min/mile pace is better than I hoped for today, particularly for this distance. Of course, 46 minutes for a 10k is several minutes slower than my goal, but that's why we train, right?

The route was nice today. I started just in time to go where I wanted before it got too dark, and still be able to safely run some of the unlit parts towards the end. Plenty of wildlife too. Many deer of course, including one that refused to move out of the way, I actually had to go around him! A little bunny which illustrated perfectly the expression "caught in the headlights", as it was probably blinded by some cars and also stayed right in the middle of the path! On the other hand, no runner or dog walker, pretty usual.

Like I said, I'm hoping to run every other day, but I'm thinking I will try another run tomorrow. As usual, plans are likely to change, so we'll see.
Till then, keep Exhausting!
