Easy Evening Run

I just finished a 7.981km running that lasted about 0hh:38mm:3ss !

Well, it was supposed to be easy, but it was anything but! Like I said yesterday, I really thought today would be a rest day, partly because of the rain in the forecast. But of course, they were quite wrong once again, and the afternoon was actually mostly dry. A few puddles here and there of course, because we did get a lot of rain overnight and in the morning, but no flooding. So, just like yesterday, I decided to bag a few miles while I had the chance. I even had a quick dynamic warm up! Very short, literally two minutes, but I guess that's better than nothing. I also stretched very quickly my calves, quads and hamstrings. I know stretching is more efficient post-run, but I could feel all my leg muscles were way too tight and I wanted to avoid any cramp. And off I went!

I managed to start slightly slower than usual, and instead of focusing on the pace, I tried focusing on the cadence, which is one of my weak points. It worked a bit, because my shoe sensors tell me I was sometimes in the target range during the first mile. However, a shorter/faster stride feels very unnatural to me, and unintentionally I quickly reverted to a more usual stride, outside of the target range. That doesn't mean I increased my pace though, as today is one of those days I really didn't have the legs. The temperature around 74F (about 23 degrees Celsius) is of course not the scorching heat we got this summer, but still higher than what we had recently. And the humidity around 85% is just too uncomfortable! I sweated way more than my pace would suggest. Not my best or most enjoyable run compared to other recent runs, that's for sure, but I'm still happy I went, because all the rain we were supposed to get today, we might get it tomorrow.

That's about 31km for this week. I am hoping to reach this kind of mileage every week, so let's see if I can repeat it this new week. Till then, keep Exhausting!
