A recent study has revealed that the Earth's center has changed its direction of rotation. It is currently rotating in the opposite direction to the rotation of the Earth's surface. This surprising information from researchers at Peking University in China has been published in the journal 'Nature Geoscience'.
The study says that in 2009, the Earth's center suddenly stopped rotating and since then it has started rotating in the opposite direction. Scientists say that this phenomenon may be normal, because the Earth's center changes its direction of rotation every 35 to 70 years. Such changes were previously observed around 1970. Scientists estimate that it may change its direction again in the mid-2040s.
The researchers reached this conclusion by analyzing earthquake data recorded from 1995 to 2021. They believe that this change in the center's rotation is probably related to a slight change in the length of the day.
Although this news has caused public concern, scientists have assured that this will not have any major impact on the Earth's surface. Therefore, there is no danger of endangering the existence of fauna. People living on the surface of the Earth will not feel the effects of this rotation.
